Geographical Mindset
A particular mindset can easily cross borders and take hostage of a community and a whole nation
Oscar Bimpong
I have seen people applauding the army for been serviceable by making Ghana the cleaner city. I also hold the same opinion that they are doing a good job but that is not enough as we can do better.
In my upcoming book, Mindset Revolution - Re-engineering your Mind from Prison to Purpose, I talked about geographical mindset and this picture vividly defines this statement.
For example, almost all gutters in Africa are uncovered. However, gutters in almost the whole of Europe are covered. Why is that one geographical location thinks different from the other? This is the definition of geographical mindset.
I was thinking, for example, if Ghana has their gutters uncovered, then I was expecting Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso etc to have a different mindset by covering their gutters.
Why would almost 52 countries have the same mindset? This is a question for all of us to answer. However, what you have to understand is that mindset can easily cross borders to rule any community or country.
Therefore, though these army officers are doing a good job, that is not enough as the greatest job will be to cover these gutters.
Until the mindset of Africans changes and until we have leaders that think differently from the norm, we will continue to struggle as a continent. Africa needs leaders that don't think outside the box but those that get rid of the box. Those that don't conform but those that disrupt and set an uncomfortable stage for growth and experience of something different.
There is a saying that doing the same thing and experiencing different results is the definition of madness. Our leaders have done things the same way all these years and that is why we are experiencing the results of the richest continent with natural resources but inhabiting the poorest people on earth.
Time for each and everyone to think and act differently to experience something different that will enhance our growth and lead to the creation of wealth for the good people of Africa.
I always say it is possible if only you believe.
