I. Introduction
The geographical advantages of Zhaoqing within the Greater Bay Area (GBA) have played a significant role in its development, contributing to economic growth, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity. Zhaoqing's strategic location within the GBA has been instrumental in its development (Hu & Han, 2019). Being positioned in the central part of the GBA, Zhaoqing provides easy access and connectivity to other major cities in the region, serving as a crucial link between the eastern and western parts of the GBA (Hu & Han, 2019).
Furthermore, Zhaoqing boasts abundant natural resources and a diverse natural environment, adding to its geographical advantages (Chen, 2022). The city's numerous rivers, lakes, and reservoirs contribute to its agricultural productivity and serve as a source of hydropower (Chen, 2022). Zhaoqing's picturesque landscapes, including mountains, forests, and scenic areas, make it an attractive tourist destination within the GBA (Chen, 2022).
The historical significance of Zhaoqing has also shaped its development within the GBA (Li, 2023). As the former capital of the ancient Nanyue Kingdom and a political and economic center during the Ming and Qing dynasties, Zhaoqing's rich historical and cultural heritage has contributed to preserving cultural relics, traditional craftsmanship, and cultural tourism (Li, 2023).
One notable example of Zhaoqing's development spurred by its geographical advantages is the Dawang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Xu et al., 2021). This industrial zone in Zhaoqing has attracted significant domestic and foreign investments, particularly in high-tech industries such as advanced manufacturing, electronic information, and new energy (Xu et al., 2021). The strategic location of Zhaoqing within the GBA, coupled with its favorable business environment and infrastructure, has facilitated the growth of this industrial zone and contributed to the city's economic development (Xu et al., 2021).
In conclusion, Zhaoqing's geographical advantages, including its strategic location, natural resources, and historical significance, have played a pivotal role in its development within the Greater Bay Area. These advantages have contributed to economic growth, infrastructure development, and regional connectivity, making Zhaoqing an essential component of the GBA's economic powerhouse.
