Geodesign Summit 2020 - Join Us!

As a life-long Architecture, Engineer and Construction professional with a GIS upbringing, I am super excited to attend the Geodesign Summit in Redlands California from Feb24-27th! I feel as though the time has never been more full of opportunity to bring the AEC and GIS fields closer together to address local, national and global challenges.

The built and natural world is under more stress than today than ever, and we need more commercially driven professions to help move the concepts of Geodesign to the next level. No longer is environmentally conscious planning and designs a niche field for a few professionals operating in a back room. Instead, intelligent and sustainable design is the responsibility of all owners, project developers, and all AEC stakeholders.

To this point, I’m very eager to hear from Helen Pickard with Mott MacDonald at the keynote to hear her discuss the role of technology and people in infrastructure design and efficient operations of infrastructure.

Other sessions I’ll be sure to attend include examples of the growing impact of AEC on Geodesign. Presentations from Helen Pickard @MottMacDonald will be talking about Engineering Project and consciously balancing development needs with sustainable living; Darin Welch and Jeff Siegel of @HNTB who will be sharing their expertise about Mobility Planning for Tomorrow; and the sessions presented by Stephen Bourne of @Atkins speaking on the topic of Geodesign with City Simulator; as well as Mitchell Jabs of @Stantec who will share knowledge about Efficient Energy Delivery. These sessions (and many more) are sure to inform and educate using real-world examples from active professionals and great presenters.

This is also a unique networking opportunity to expand my professional network as the event draws approximately 300 thought leaders and cutting-edge practitioners from across the globe from fields such as municipal government, urban, land use, and environmental planning, academia, architecture, landscape architecture, as well as GIS and BIM technology.

This year's summit is just the beginning, I think we have a lot of potential new business opportunities to develop in the coming years.
