?? #GenZ #REINVENTING the #WORLD
??? I am starting a short series of articles on Generation Z and their strategic business implications. This article covers overall "STEP" trends and their Mindset.
?? "STEP" TRENDS
??? Society literally regenerates itself with each new generation, albeit influenced by the "STEP" Trends of the Social, Technological, Economic, and Political environment in which they grow to maturity.
??? Generation Z (c1995-2015) has been greatly influenced by #technology, having grown up with a cellphone in their hands (and Internet access) ever since junior school.
??? And they will mature with Artificial Intelligence (#AI) and #Quantum Computing, or what I call Quantum Advanced Intelligence (QAI), plus the #Metaverse. They will create the #QAIMETA society for the next generation, Gen Alpha.
??? #Economically, they were severely affected by the impact on their parents and family by the economic crisis of 2008-10, and now by the impact of Covid and its serious economic disruptions (2019-2023). Economically, this creates a prudent "depression era" mentality similar to that suffered by their great-grandparents in the 1930s.
??? #Socially and #politically they are maturing in a global environment, concerned about climate change, and also in a society which is far more diverse and inclusive than any before it. This is at least the situation in North America, but is also similar in almost all countries.
?? MINDSET
??? As a result, the psychographic mindset of Gen Z may be categorized with 6 elements, which will in turn determine the future of society at large.
?? 1. PURPOSEFUL
??? Their "Why" of Life is of paramount importance.
??? Rather than Work-Life Balance, they seek Life-Work Integration, and are driven to engage with organizations that mirror their own Purpose (see Ethics, below).
??? Yes, the experience of recessions mean that work leads to financial independence, but it must be on their terms. They are pragmatic in consumption and production, as well as learning and development.
??? And growing up in a digital world, they expect flexibility in terms of work from home, consumption, and education.
?? 2. STRATEGIC
??? They are pragmatic by nature, based on what life has brought their way.
??? And being innovative and open-minded, they also have an entrepreneurial mindset and can drive initiatives independently and collaboratively.
??? They also enjoy mentoring others, whether peers or their seniors, in the ways of technology and its ability to empower us.
??? Goal and mission focused, they develop future visions and are able to achieve significant goals. They think future.
?? 3. IQ INNOVATIVE
??? Well educated, they have strong IQ and are innovative and creative.
??? They are not just trendy but change oriented in terms of meaningful innovation.
??? With cellphones always at hand, they are digital natives who use every facet of the Internet to socialize, learn, communicate, network, and build relationships.
??? They are digitally savvy and adapt quickly to new applications. They think outside the box and have an open mind about new ideas, with knowledge always at their fingertips.
??? They have a culture of lifelong learning, because knowledge is changing so rapidly. And they are strong at finding innovative new solutions.
?? 4. EQ EMOTIVE
??? Gen Z seeks meaningful, honest, and strong relationships.
??? They are people-oriented networkers with a keen eye for human behavior and motivations.
??? They tend to have a strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and expect the same in others. They function equally well either independently or on teams, again with transparent communications.
?? 5. DIVERSITY (DEIB)
??? Being part of a diverse age group, they value and expect all aspects of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).
??? They have a global mindset and both embrace and expect variety and diversity in gender and sexuality (LGBTQ), in relationships, the workplace, consumerism, and society at large.
?? 6. ETHICS
??? They want transparency and truth in all matters, both in terms of their finances, their personal data, on social media platforms, and in relationships.
??? They seek truth from facts, not rumor. Communications must be clear and unequivocal, yet fully respectful of DEIB.
??? They expect sustainable products (ESG) and full support of climate control efforts in corporate and social responsibility for all stakeholders. They support stakeholder capitalism, with full integrity in all matters.
?? SUMMARY: GenZ is the Future
??? Overall, GenZ will remake society and every organization with which they interact as customers, employees, stakeholders, and executives.
??? Indeed, the vast majority of future organizational leaders will be from GenZ, and they will reinvent every organization with which they interact, both internally and externally.
??? Business #culture is already changing, and #HR had better get ahead of the game if they want to optimize and draw upon the futuristic capabilities of this new generation.
??? They *are* the future. And they will bring #QAIMETA to full fruition.
