Welcome to the June newsletter, how can we be in the middle of the year already.... it won't be long before the schools are clocking off and we are into the Summer holidays - not that there is much sun at the moment - but I'm sure it will come.
In May/June - my networking endeavours continued, so like the previous months, I haven't been as organised with my?marketing, and keeping in contact as I have been previously. It's an art ensuring you keep on top of your marketing, which is needed to grow your business, whilst supporting your clients. Though to be honest - I have also been researching as to what businesses need support with, so I can help everyone better no matter what stage they are at.
A few things that have been highlighted to me, is that a lot of business owners do want to be compliant and understand it is a requirement - but a few only want to be compliant to a certain extent - i.e. to 'look like they are compliant' but not 'that compliant!'.
And I get it like everything in business you need to weigh up the risks as there is a finite amount of resources - both time and often money, so a decision does need to be made as to what level of compliance business owners are willing to accept.
As a business owner, I understand the need to juggle many aspects of business and the level of compliance required depends on where you are in your business, and what actually makes you feel uncomfortable to determine what level of risk of non compliance you are willing to take - I look at everything from a Risk perspective not a compliance perspective.
I also look for efficiencies in businesses to make sure resources are being utilised effectively - as your business grows your risk, the tolerance for this risk and resources that are needed changes - this what sets me apart from most compliance professionals (who generally have a low tolerance for risk and only look at it from a compliance perspective).
So what else has been happening in the world of the Genie - well apart from breaking an arrow with my neck, fire walking and walking on broken glass (there are some social posts in this at some point so this is for another day) - it has been a month of stepping out of my comfort zone, networking and meeting new people. One thing in business is it is the people, both within it and those supporting it, that makes our businesses and us as individuals grow, as they give us new perspectives or help us do things we didn't think we could do. So this is a reminder to ensure you are surrounding yourselves with those who can help you achieve your goals.
And what has been happening in the world of Compliance - well as you can probably tell there is more to the Genie than Compliance, and if you want to keep updated on what is going on in the world of compliance, you probably don't need a Genie - this is what I do for businesses you don't need to worry about it you just need to know it has been done.
