Geneviève Lemenu, Project Manager – Logistics and Operations: Bringing the Project from Dream to Reality

Geneviève, tell us about your journey before Creos?

“During about twelve years, I evolved in the circus industry where I participated in various types of tours: under the big top, in arenas, outdoors, and short and long-term tours. Each of these tours was managed differently as they were all singular one from the other. My role wasn’t limited to the stage performance, as I also worked backstage, in show production and logistics. I then joined a contemporary dance company based in Montreal in which I worked on both national and international show broadcasting. My experiences have equipped me with skills for organizing shows and tours while ensuring high-quality service in all respects of production and logistics. This expertise is for sure valuable at Creos, where I export our installations worldwide.”

What is at the heart of your mission at Creos?

“Let's imagine that an installation is presented in Chicago. My colleague and I are responsible for building the budget, drafting the contract, implementing the production and organizing the logistics so that the installation arrives and is set-up for its presentation. We also coordinate the assembly team on-site and all other necessary resources for the event .?

In collaboration with the sales team, I tweak the budget and schedule based on various criteria, such as? the location, the number of installations or even the time of year. As each client has their own specifications and needs, we offer them options adapted to their sites and events. . Once the quote is approved by the client, we move forward with the signage of the contract. This is when I truly take charge of the project and start the process! .”

What is the first step once the agreement is confirmed?

“My mission is to implement participative installations worldwide in order to provide unique experiences to diverse audiences. In a way, we give a second meaning to a space during its presentation, which is authentic each time. Realizing the broadcast with the support of the technical crew, the workshop, the tour and the communications teams along with the resources available to Creos is a long-term project that brings me great satisfaction in the end.

The production schedule is of great importance in our collaboration with the client in order to navigate flawlessly through the whole process. As the main point of contact for logistics, I answer all questions and issues that arise, and in some cases, guide the client to the right internal resource. “Once the schedule is established, I organize a technical meeting with the client. This usually reassures them about the professionalism of our operations. We take particular care to ensure each installation is set up impeccably and that the presentation meets the client's satisfaction.”

How do you manage a multitude of projects at once?

“Organization is the key to successfully completing all projects. The production schedule guides us each step, ensuring that everyone's role is well-defined and executed. Given the variety of installations, some on tour, others in maintenance or transit, a close collaboration between our teams is essential. Some clients plan well in advance, while others are more spontaneous. Whatever the situation, we ensure a smooth realization. Continuous training of our teams is also important, especially with the exportation of new installations where we try to anticipate the unpredictable ;).

The diversity of tasks requires organization, attention to detail, and active listening for accurate responses. Our clients seem to appreciate this approach, as many of them trust us year after year, especially as our portfolio continues to grow. We have just added Horizon and The TUNNEL recently.
