Generosity > Fundraising

Generosity Educator I Instructor, Canadian Association of Gift Planners I TEDx Speaker
Sweet dreams are made of this.
Who am I to disagree?
I've traveled the world and the seven seas
Everybody's lookin' for something
The band name is in fact, "Eurythmics" ... which means:
the art of harmonious bodily movement especially through expressive timed movements in response to improvised music.
Improvised music - generosity as a response to:
A desire to improve the world
A desire to bring care to community
A desire to end suffering and connect with creators and this earth...
For our lifetimes the only response to this in charityland has been FUNDRAISING.
I am dead tired of it.
The golfing, the gala dinners, the mail packs, the 20 somethings bothering us on the street, the poor cash register person who has to ask us to donate to their billionaire bosses' next IPO...
I'm jaded, cynical, tired of putting money in envelopes in wooden pews...this year's fundraising trend is TOTE bags for new monthly gifts on "giving days" at every university and charity. How embarrassing. On #GivingTuesday this year it won't be about the match-gift...we have reached the 3x Match... 5x Match! To quoteth the rabbit, silly Kids... we're out of Trix.
Generosity is the music of your heart
In my life, I am blessed to be guided by a personal board of directors. I call them the Golden Crabs. You can see the whole list of 50 people over the past decade here. Serena Hak, MFA-P was inducted in 2018, alongside Aneil Gokhale whose words you'll also see in this report by CI Assante Wealth Management https://ci-arena.ci.com/od/152d0283
It was developed in community. Over YEARS of discussions and in doing the work, to find a better way. Charity fundraisers, you'll hear the words of Fraser Green and the fundamentals of fundraising, you'll see Aneil's words holding the spirit of public foundations, you'll see my words too.... but a warning to all who blindly respond to the music of fundraising:
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused
No, the intentions of fundraising are NOT pure.
Let's be honest here.
Family wealth discussions, business succession, international foundations with granting commitments that will change the course of history. It IS serious business.
There is joy indeed, but there is also pain, grieving, and there is money. Brands and taxes are involved. This is more than lemonade stands and spaghetti at the Legion hall.
I've been blessed to teach thousands of advisors about 'philanthropy'. In-person, via the new Canadian financial designation in philanthropy via communities like Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) , Advocis , the Estate Planning Council of Canada and many more... Advisors are looking to help, all they find, is fundraising?
Philanthropy moves billions
And our only guide is fundraising? You're only option to make a difference is to either bike-ride across the nation or donate money and go away?!
We deserve better.
Especially for the many advisors whose clients are the ones making the donations.
You NEED to elevate your client conversations and integrate generosity into wealth planning.
The Generosity Planning Report for Advisors is a resource for you.

This is an unusual way to share corporate product stuff, so let me break more rules and call in some of the executives that made this unique collaboration happen. Because I'm proud of them and proud to know them. Sean Etherington, M.S.M. ( recognized nationally for his own family's quarter century public commitment to community and philanthropy ) has asked me to come and speak to his charity network before.... and Joady Guyot has come on a generosity-journey of discovery over the past decade (helping dozens of advisors realize their OWN giving dreams, I see you Joady!!) .... it has been an honour to walk with all of you.
We are all seeking meaning through GENEROSITY
Thank you Serena and the CI Assante Wealth Management team for creating this public resource, to help us ALL, do better.
Generosity dreams, are made of this ??

6 天前I forwarded the?Generosity Planning?link to the advisors I know. Honestly, some of them have no idea about the benefits and wisdom of charitable giving. It is surprising to me, as everyone has smartphones to access resources anytime.

1 周This sounds like a great initiative, Paul. I'm working hard to elevate the importance of end-of-life planning, especially regarding increased social capital & greater survivor resilience. As you know well, the results can be significant.
