Generative AI's Productivity Boom

This week, Walmart is making a big splash about the productivity boosts associated with their Generative AI-enhanced solutions.

Much of the excitement is about this comment, "Without the use of generative AI, this work would have required nearly 100 times the current headcount to complete in the same amount of time."

Similarly, when implementing custom Generative AI solutions, we hear tremendous excitement in four areas:

1) Moving beyond search

We see many of our clients excited about the time savings. With a ChatGPT-type user experience, support technicians can go beyond "search" to converse with a library of documents to quickly dive deep and address a customer's needs. We can provide incredible accuracy with verifiable references to their documents while unlocking internal data within SharePoint, Product Catalogs, and Manuals.

2) Chatbots in Teams

Like Walmart's "Ask Sam" chatbot, we find many clients like to name chatbots with a friendly name. One Copilot Studio example is "Nelly", a chatbot designed to provide a "who's who" within an organization.

Nelly is a Copilot Studio chatbot that helps you connect with your co-workers and contacts.

Imagine you are a seller faced with a new prospect interested in an offering you know little about. Enter Nelly, [no, not that Nelly], to which she can quickly respond with who can help you. Historically, you might have had to ask around, but with Nelly, the chatbot can swiftly assist you and even write a quick intro if you'd prefer.

3) Unlocking New Capabilities with AI Intelligence

Intelligent Automation is a game-changer. While AI brings fears of massive job loss, we aren't seeing those negative impacts. Instead, we're seeing the deployment of "intelligence" in areas where it would have been too expensive otherwise.

A great example is automated reviews. Whether site visits, status reports, or whatever, scoring these and flagging which ones should undergo human review is now easy.

Because of Gen AI, the notion of "spot reviews" might be a relic of the past.

Tasks like this are excellent for Generative AI, as automation allows us to cover areas we previously didn't have time for. Gen AI isn't replacing humans; it's allowing humans to focus on where they are needed and avoid wasting time in areas they are not.

4) In-app guidance & suggestions

When it comes to business applications, one of my favorite areas has always been around the user experience. I thoroughly enjoy going the extra mile to ensure users have an intuitive experience. Generative AI offers a bountiful garden of options. Whether next steps, summaries, guidance, or qualitative scoring, we have numerous ways to make applications smarter for users.

Closing

While much social media is buzzing about Grok 2 and Midjourney, Microsoft has built an absolute powerhouse within Azure and Copilot to deliver remarkable gains. Results are real, and we're still only at the beginning of an incredible Generative AI journey!

Unsure where to begin, you aren't alone. Start with our readiness assessment or comment below.
