Generative AI’s hidden gender revolution: What’s changing?

Why are women less likely than men to use generative AI tools like ChatGPT or Google Bard? The reasons are multifaceted. According to an essay by Josie Cox for Bloomberg Weekend, the disparity stems from factors like time pressures women face and a broader skepticism toward AI.

However, there’s a promising shift: Deloitte’s recent report revealed that the share of U.S. women using or experimenting with generative AI tools tripled in 2024, compared to a 2.2-fold increase for men. This surge has helped narrow the gender gap significantly. Deloitte’s authors even predict that women may surpass men in generative AI adoption as early as next year in some countries.

For now, though, the U.S. divide remains stark.

What’s your take? Could we be on the brink of women leading the way in generative AI use?
