Generative AI: your super powers

Generative AI: your super powers

Ever since 微软 acquired Chat GPT, a generative artificial intelligence solution from OpenAI , there has been nothing else to talk about in the technology circles. In just three months, it managed to reach 100 million monthly users, a figure that took much longer for popular social networks such as TikTok or Instagram to achieve. Chat GPT has demonstrated the enormous potential of artificial intelligence and has contributed to its rapid expansion. It is very easy to use thanks to its user-friendly interface that allows you to interact with it as if it were a person. Its answers are of high quality, accurate and consistent, and it can answer questions on any topic. This makes people find it very practical and useful, which has been key to its popularity.

GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) technology uses an advanced language model to create human-like content, whether in text, voice, images, video or code. It uses natural language processing and semantic algorithms to provide consistent and relevant responses. In addition, it uses deep learning techniques and neural networks that mimic the functioning of the human brain. It also employs generative adversarial networks, which are able to identify patterns in the data and generate new examples based on those patterns. All this is possible thanks to the huge computational capacity we have today, with chips designed specifically for artificial intelligence and the enormous amount of data that is generated every day, more than a trillion megabytes. As happened with the app store, we will have a generative intelligence solution for everything.

Due to the spread of this new tool, office work will undergo radical changes, as many of our work applications will incorporate generative artificial intelligence assistants. In the case of video conferencing, Zoom already has its "AI Companion", which facilitates the organization of meetings and can summarize conversations. Microsoft, for its part, has developed the "Office Co-pilot", which can create documents, spreadsheets and presentations according to our instructions. There are also specific tools, such as Copy.ai , which writes news or social media posts, and 欧特克 's Generative Design, which helps design engineering projects. These wizards process large volumes of data from a variety of sources and generate a wide range of content, such as medical reports, translations, meeting minutes, financial summaries, social media posts, poetry and prose. In addition, they are able to program software, perform scientific calculations, create images, videos or compose songs. Their interactivity also allows them to answer questions of all kinds, providing customer, patient or student care, all at a speed faster than human.

Intelligent assistants offer great socio-economic benefits, but they also entail risks, such as exacerbating existing problems and creating new challenges. 高盛 argues that generative artificial intelligence will increase global GDP by 7% over the next decade, improving labor productivity by 0.1% to 0.6%, especially in areas such as sales, marketing, R&D, software development and customer service. However, this will affect 50% of employment, generating a surplus of highly qualified people and affecting, above all, professions that require active listening, reading comprehension, writing and programming. According to a study by Afi , the most affected sectors in Spain are: finance and insurance, consulting services, information and communications.

The way we obtain information will also change, as we will no longer need to consult experts, but will rely on technological solutions. This will revolutionize customer, patient and student care. In addition, security risks will arise related to the authenticity of content, which could be incorrect, biased or impersonate identities, increasing digital scams, which are already growing at 30% per year.

Now we have to ask questions to generative artificial intelligence tools to receive help. However, over time, these tools will learn and may even self-generate their own questions. The content created will be used to improve algorithm training. This raises several questions: Will AI solutions interact with each other? Will we lose the ability to think for ourselves? What kind of education will be valuable in the future? Will we come to trust our personal relationships to these tools? ?
