Generative AI – a world of trusted information?

?

What more often takes precedence in many boardrooms, over defending the organization against cybercrime, is AI (Artificial Intelligence). For anything artificially generated, one can question its veracity. Since the introduction of various forms of AI technology, the word 'trust' has gained even greater significance in my view. This time, I'll take you into the world of Generative AI.

?

What is Generative AI?

Generative AI refers to the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate new data, such as images, music, text, and videos, resembling human creations. This includes content generation, coding (software development), conceiving different product concepts, and even virtual personal assistants devoid of flowing blood. These are human skills that were thought irreplaceable until recently. So in contrast to Machine Learning models that today helps our customers taking better decisions, the world of Generative AI is generating new data, new relations and new insights. Very powerful!

Even John Lennon has been 'resurrected' through Generative AI. If you're in the music industry, check out this video of the Amsterdam band JOHAN collaborating with AI-generated artist Amalia de la Vega. Generative AI is now applied in so many areas that I also want to caution about its downside. It's not just about discerning what's real or fake but also about this crucial question:

?

To whom do you entrust your data?

Organizations wholeheartedly embracing Generative AI do so with the aim of benefiting themselves. However, one must ponder whether there's someone else who might profit more: globally operating organizations offering Generative AI as a public service. How much confidential or highly secret information could have been leaked by now? It's almost certain that information from your organization is stored somewhere you wouldn't want it to be.

So, I asked ChatGPT the following question: 'Suppose I were to share highly confidential information in this sentence, is it wise within this public ChatGPT service, or can I do it in a safer way?' Here's the response from my automated friend:

'It is absolutely not wise to share highly confidential information via this public ChatGPT service or any other online platform for general use. ChatGPT is designed to ensure privacy, but it is not intended for processing sensitive personal information. These conversations are not permanently stored, but it's always best to be cautious about what you share online.'

I found it to be a clear answer, indicating that the use of public online AI-services by employees needs policy in many places also.

Another downside is that public generative AI-services often don't speak your language, the one in which customers have recognized themselves for years. The output you receive is insufficient because it lacks specific knowledge on how you uniquely describe things. Standing out and excelling still has a considerable human component, is my conclusion.

Facilitating a world of trusted information

Intelligent technology should ensure that communication and information is kept secure and confidential. Otherwise its application in the world of business is limited. ?This is why Infor, is developing a dedicated Generative AI solution as part of our Cloud Technology and Infor CloudSuites to further help automating and optimizing our industry solutions.. This way, Intellectual Property (IP) and customer’s data is protected, and customers can benefit from even better experiences through the use of AI technology. We understand better than anyone the questions to ask to turn our own Generative AI solution into a superhero and take it to the next level of maturity with respect to protecting the data. In parallel, we already have a world class Machine learning platform that provides predictive and prescriptive AI. The ML models from this platform can be trained with our deep industry processes and our customers can further train it with their own data too.

?

Four groups will benefit

By developing Infor's Generative AI solution, I expect that at least the following groups will benefit:

?

  1. End users can get more valid responses since the Generative AI large language models will know their data, their processes and combine that with the general knowledge base it already has. You would be able to query both data information, extract new data relations/KPI and processes/documentation and correlate that with knowledge in the public domain, all in a safe way.
  2. Super users and projects can use the AI model to help generating for example process descriptions and other documentation
  3. Any form of content creators such as Sales and marketing professionals, media industry and Artists
  4. It helps us to develop even higher-quality software.

?

More information or want to contribute ideas?

I am always curious about the questions you would like our own Generative AI assistant to answer. The willingness to learn has always driven progress. Moreover, there is nothing wrong with continuing to answer questions as a human.
