Generative AI – Towards an Augmented Knowledge Management?

Yesterday I had the honor to keynote the 9th annual conference on KM organized by the SKEMA Business School and CoP-1 Knowledge Management in Paris. This year’s theme was:? Generative AI – Towards an Augmented Knowledge Management? My key messages can be summarized as follows:

As we face the revolution of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), we approach a new frontier where the management of intelligence, whether human or artificial, commits us to a point of no return. In this new world, success—whether personal, societal, or economic—is measured by the sharpness of our curiosity and our acumen in questioning, far beyond our ability to respond.

The advent of GAI marks the onset of an exponential scholarly growth, elevating the plurality of intelligences to the rank of invaluable wealth. Our quest? To continuously harmonize and progress in the light of GAI, to forge an augmentative symbiosis between our natural faculties and algorithmic power.

In the realm of knowledge management, we face three major challenges:

  • the first is learning, adopting and implementing GAI;
  • the second is its assimilation into our personal, social, governmental, economic, and entrepreneurial trajectories;
  • the third is managing the cultural change within organizations, indispensable for the integration and adoption of this technology.

GAI, as a new instrument in the orchestra of our intellect, demands from us a virtuoso mastery; because the one who plays it with dexterity leads the dance and can easily orchestrate the pace at which others must synchronize. To not familiarize oneself with its nuances and capacities is to let the other—whether partner or competitor—take the lead and direct the concert of the future.

Despite obstacles, I remain a fervent optimist: I believe in our intrinsic ability to steer GAI towards a horizon where technological progress and collective well-being are interwoven harmoniously.

My congratulations to Laurence DESCOS for leading SKEMA’s KM program and to drive its infusion in the various business domains.

Thanks to Louis-Pierre GUILLAUME of the CoP-1 from bringing such diverse audience, from academia, to government to industry actors.

More than ever diversity of thoughts is required for us to navigate this uncertainty ahead.

"Management of intelligence" ? "Augmented Knowledge Management" ? That's confusing: * Intelligence is a capability, not an asset * What is "augmented, the knowledge or its management ? https://caminao.blog/overview/knowledge-kaleidoscope/learning/

Looking forward to hearing more of JC's address. Loved the analogy of the orchestra and taking the lead in the dance to come.
