Generative AI in Software Engineering: A Story By Itself

Implementing Generative AI to make software engineering more evolved, sounds simpler than say, trying to transform how a claim is handled. However, it has got its own fascinating journey to tell.
Industry is working through the dual challenges of growth and profitability. CIOs are committed to bringing AI into their software engineering framework to support these objectives, however they also need to be pragmatic. They are constantly thinking about (and this by no means is the complete list):
Use cases
RoI
Change Management
Security
So, when you take an idea or a solution to a CIO, make sure to be ready for:
1.????? Complete view of the transformation as opposed to a point solution alone for a particular SDLC phase. Answer the WHY.
2.????? Prioritization principles when you have multiple solutions. Present the right sequence.

3.????? How to start small and then expand. Ideate a controlled pilot.
4.????? What do you need? Data, Infrastructure, Code, Requirements... What else? Be Ready Upfront.
5.????? Be prepared not to get all that you ask. Build flexibility and adaptability into your solutions.
6.????? Security is a big (perhaps the biggest) bear. Do your homework.
7.????? Just when you think you got it buttoned up, there is always a late twist in the tale- could be a public LLM with a new architecture, could be a new product altogether, could be a new governance policy. Keep your research mind sharp. You may not know everything; however, you need to have the appetite to find out the answer. Something that specifically works for your client.
And yes, as Mr. Tyson says: “Everyone has a plan till they get…”. So, be ready to get through 95%, and then start back at 0%. Much like a snake-n-ladder game.?
Great learning opportunity.
