BJ's Wholesale Club, a Visionary Partner of Corporate Partners for a Hunger-Free Maine, donated the equivalent of 280,500 meals to local hunger relief organizations in its three Maine locations last year. The Portland Club donates produce, meat, dairy, and baked goods twice a week to Preble Street. The organization's mission is to provide accessible, barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty and advocate for solutions. The nutritious, fresh food is then distributed at the Preble Street Food Pantry and to its partners in the Portland area. BJ's has committed to reducing food loss and waste by 50% by 2030, in part through the BJ's Feeding Communities program, which partners with Feeding America member food banks and their networks.
