Generative AI - For Beginners

If I had to explain generative AI to a 12-year-old I would say :

Generative AI is like a smart computer program that can create new things independently. It learns from existing examples and uses that knowledge to make something new and original. For example, it can learn from lots of pictures of animals and then create its own unique pictures of animals that have never been seen before.

Imagine you have a robot friend who loves drawing. You show the robot many pictures of cats, dogs, and birds. The robot studies all these pictures and learns how to draw animals. Then, it surprises you by drawing an entirely new animal that no one has ever seen before, like a cat with wings or a dog with stripes.

Generative AI can also make up new stories, compose music, or even design new clothes. It's like having a super creative friend who can come up with amazing and imaginative things based on what it has learned.

For example, I asked AI to write me a poem on life in the words of Krishna. Here's what it said :

I, Krishna, shall guide your way.

Amidst its joys and tests untold,

Find wisdom's light within your soul.

Life's ocean vast, its waves do crash,

Moments fleeting, they swiftly pass.

Bound by love, in eternal connection.

So, tread this path with joyful zest,

Let love and compassion be your crest.

In life's embrace, surrender your strife,
