Generational Poverty: Origins of a subspecies

Generational Poverty: Origins of a subspecies

Looking back at the early 21st century from the year 2100, one of the smartest moves the US did was to convince "third world countries" like India to ban crypto, while excluding them from the global banking system that runs the internet economy.

Back in the 13th century, the Indus region was quite prosperous and was nicknamed "the golden bird" because it "ate up" all of Rome's gold as a consequence of the spice trade. Spice was the core commodity for the global economy during this period and based on some estimates this region commanded 25% of the world's GDP.

Fast forward to the 21st century, North America is a global superpower that doesn't just command 25% the world's GDP but is also on the top of the second true "world order" and can therefore coerce/dictate the behavior of the countries underneath them. Technology is the core commodity for the global economy during this period in addition to also being a tool to maintain their world order via a cultural hegemony, mass psychosis and social engineering.

As such, if any low-ranking country were to ever have higher ambitions to carve out more of the global GDP for themselves or maybe even upend the world order to become a new top dog, then they would essentially have to undermine the US's tech dominance and cultural hegemony.

However, doing so would be extremely hard due to the threat of severe backlash in terms of sanctions and the military might of the US, also the laws have been laid down in such a way that this behavior would be nipped at the bud and the education system designed in a manner that will produce docile minds that can never become dangerous. The final touch to preserve the world order then is the global banking system where if none of the above work they can always regulate someones behaviour using the leavers of money - which is the lifeblood of human existence. However, in the midst of this beautifully structured consolidation mechanisms something unexpected happened. Someone, somewhere, invented #Bitcoin, and almost overnight the power to regulate someone's behavior using money and the banking system was severely undermined!

Moreover, decentralised technologies also undermined the technological supremacy of the US as it completely levelled the playing field in tech. Suddenly a kid in India or Somalia could build the same web3 products as someone in the US or UK and earn the same as them in BTC or USDT, despite living in a different geographical location with a relatively low cost of living!

The US already had made sure to prevent this scenario by making it extremely hard for people in these countries to be able to purchase infrastructure like cloud services or ad engines, or to be able to collect money easily over the internet from the entire world by excluding their banks from integrating themselves into the various payment processors running the internet economy. As such the invention of web3 and the entire economy that was forming around it could have been a disaster in the making!

Thankfully, they had the foresight to install some "sleeping shells" within the governments of these countries. As such, there was a swift crackdown on these industries within their infancy by their own people, who not just self sabotaged their potential edge within the world order but also sealed the fate for generations to come by making sure they never step outside the path shown to them for social mobility. However, the masterstroke is that no one protested or batted an eyelid or even understood what went wrong or how badly they were betrayed by their own leaders.

The best prisons are always invisible, and the best policies are the ones that produce generational impacts with little to no resistance.

Fast forward a few decades, the US entered into a new golden era and the very industries that could have undermined them were absorbed into their existing infrastructure to further reinforce their dominance. All whilst the poor countries just got poorer.

Thank you, Ankit, for sharing such a thought-provoking perspective on generational poverty. Your insights into the historical context and its implications for the future are both enlightening and inspiring. Let's hope we can break this cycle and create a brighter future together. https://hi.switchy.io/L4c0
