One Year Anniversary of?Dobbs

On Saturday, ?we celebrated the one year anniversary of the Mississippi?Dobbs?decision. Standing in front of a crowd gathered at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial at the National Celebrate Life rally in Washington, D.C., I urged these supporters to channel the same determination that fueled them for 50 years and use it to take action in ways that give hope and love to women and children.

You can watch my remarks here.

Supporting Women and Children Across the Nation

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the?Dobbs?decision, I led a?multistate donation drive ?to support more than 60 pregnancy centers across the U.S. In partnership with Susan B. Anthony ProLife America's Her PLAN, Heartbeat International, and eight of my fellow Attorneys General, we?worked with these centers to set up wish lists of items they need to serve women and children.

It's not too late to participate! Will you join me in coming around women facing the challenges of unplanned pregnancy or new motherhood by donating needed items to the pregnancy centers that empower women every day? All you have to do click?here ?to view their wish lists, purchase one or as many items as you wish, and the items will be shipped directly to the centers.

The participating centers represent only a handful of the more than 2,700 pregnancy resource centers across the country.??And I am grateful for the good work they all do to serve women and children with love, respect, and support.

We Need the Women's Bill of Rights

Last week,?Real Clear Politics published an oped I co-authored with Independent Women's Forum's Carrie Lukas ?on why we need the Women's Bill of Rights. In our piece we wrote:

Women today enjoy opportunities unheard of not long ago. But the progress women have made is under attack – ironically, in the name of equality. In an effort to expand society’s understanding of gender identity, women are being left behind again. We must restore a shared lexicon, at least in the courtroom and in legislative chambers, to ensure that the gains that women have made are not lost.

That’s why we need the Women’s Bill of Rights, which codifies our common understanding of sex-based words. It declares that there is a difference between sex – which denotes immutable, biological characteristics – and gender, which is influenced by societal norms and trends and feelings. Being a woman and being feminine may coexist for many women; but they are not the same. Mistakenly merging the two can lead to devastating, if unintended, consequences for young women still struggling to enjoy the full promise of Title IX...

...Our girls deserve a shot at greatness on the playing field. They deserve a private and safe space in the locker room. They deserve a place to call their own when they need to come together for support and fellowship.

Making Mississippi a Safer Place for Everyone

Earlier this month , I announced that Victoria Rice, Task Force Commander for Mississippi's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, a part of my Cyber Crime Division, graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Ongoing leadership training and professional development is a key priority for my team. Being accepted into the National Academy is a huge honor in and of itself, and we are incredibly proud of Victoria for completing and excelling in this prestigious program.?As a part of?the AGO’s investigative team, Victoria has played a key role in protecting children from online predators. Her dedication and service is making Mississippi a safer place for everyone.

Respecting the People's Right to Make Laws

Earlier this month , I led a multistate coalition of 19 Attorneys General in opposing the Biden Administration’s latest attempt to override the U.S. Supreme Court’s?Dobbs?ruling that protected the people’s right to make laws regulating abortion.

For the past 12 months, the Biden Administration has tried to subvert the Court’s?Dobbs?decision that returned important policymaking to the people.?With the use of unlawful executive?actions and blatantly false misinformation campaigns, the Administration has shown they will stop at nothing to impose a national abortion regime, regardless of the?Dobbs?decision, state laws, or, most importantly, the will of the people.

The Biden Administration has proposed a new rule that would once again seek to wrest control over abortion back from the people. And it doesn't stop with abortion policymaking. The new sweeping definition of "reproductive health care" included in the rule could be used to advance the Administration’s efforts to obstruct state laws concerning experimental gender - transition procedures for minors, as well as impede investigations into child abuse and other serious crimes

In our letter, we urged the Administration to respect the American people’s right to make laws and abandon this unlawful proposal.
