Gender Month 2023: Accelerating Digital Inclusion for Women and Girls in Asia and the Pacific

This year, International Women’s Day recognizes the critical role women and girls play in innovation and technology and highlights the importance of women’s digital inclusion in building prosperous and sustainable economies. ADB Signs Loan for First Cross-Border Wind Power Project in Asia, First Plant in Lao PDR and Largest in Southeast Asia

ADB and Monsoon Wind Power Company Limited signed a $ 692.55 million nonrecourse project financing package to build a 600-megawatt wind power plant in Sekong and Attapeu provinces in the southern region of the Lao PDR to export and sell power to neighboring Viet Nam. Comprising 133 wind turbines, the project will be the largest wind power plant in Southeast Asia and the first in the Lao PDR. Read more.

Improving the rural road network in Sri Lanka is crucial to the country’s economic and social development. More than 80% of the country’s population lives in rural communities. Water Financing Partnership Facility: Delivering Water Investments and Changing Lives

The project expands access to water and sanitation services, improves the management of water resources, promotes gender equality, contributes to environmental sustainability, builds climate resilience, and promotes food security. The facility's contributions have supported 113 ADB investment projects in 20 countries, with a cumulative $9.45 billion in water investments benefiting an expected 122.1 million people.
