The Gender Investing Gap
Recent research has produced some pretty amazing statistics.
Women on average keep about 74 cents of every dollar they save in cash in the bank, earning almost nothing. Men, by contrast, keep about 61 cents in cash.
The result of that is that women tend to retire with about 1/3rd less money than do men, and that's on top of probably getting paid less to start with. This puts women squarely on their back foot, and they're not investing enough as it is.
90% of women manage their money on their own at some point in their lives. But 95% of hedge fund managers and 90% each of mutual fund managers and traders are men. Even 86% of financial advisors are men.
This is a mismatch.
There are many ways to address that and in my experience, it's important to experiment with all of them in search of the best.
Open Mind Generations addresses this issue by leveling the playing field, walking you through specific investing opportunities with the patience you deserve along with significantly lower cost than an financial advisor or wealth manager. In addition, in this model no account is too small to play.
There is no question we all have a lot to learn on this topic, but I think the basic instinct of "stop doing what's wrong and start doing what's right" kind of settles that discussion well in advance!
