GENDER BASED CRIMES TARGETING MINORITY GROUPS MUST END!

I have been on this earth a fair bit and in many ways as humanity we have evolved and transformed in so many positive ways. We have seen remarkable developments in technology, conquered many threats, fought valiently for worthy causes, uplifted the downtrodden and helped make the world a happier place, even for just one person. This is good news indeed! On the other hand, we have not done so well in other areas. Poverty remains deeply rooted and immovable in so many regions and torrid suffering in poverty stricken countries across the globe in myriad ways is a reality. Diseases of all kinds defying medical intervention have shortened the lives of young and old, and that was the case before this COVID- 19 era we are currently facing. We must be hopeful that in the new decade an end to illnesses that have been with us too long is possible. My concern today is the relationships between genders which seem to have taken a turn for the worse. I do not always understand the cultural and societal issues in the background which drive such actions and these must be interrogated and addressed. The results of intolerance of gender diversity are very evident in the rising cases of violent crimes against women and children and even men motivated by hate and intolerance. Could this be a good thing in any world? Disagreeing with another's life choices in the realm of sexuality and gender is an individual choice but it becomes a problem when that is seen as femicide, attacking of the LGBTQ community, sexual assault seen as a gender correction measure and so many other gender driven abuses we see today. In my opinion, those kind of actions cannot stand up to the scrutiny of the need to uphold human rights and human dignity in a civilised society. It can't be okay in whatever way to murder and rape at will because you disagree with another's life. I see no justification, whatever your belief system and that may be my opinion but it is to me a non negotiable tenet of a society to respect diversity in a world that seeks to build a safe and tolerant world! There is a better way to live with others in a world as diverse as this. I hope that in the new decade we see less gender hatred type crimes and see more of tolerance and reasoned actions that uphold human life. A human being is not an entity to devalue whatever you believe.
