GenAI - A Brief 101

GenAI - A Brief 101

GenAI (Generative AI) is a subset of Deep Learning that creates new content based on what it has learned from existing data. It leverages statistical models to predict responses when given prompts. GenAI innovates and generates contents such as text, visuals/images and videos.

Machine Learning (ML) is a broader field where machines learn from data without being explicitly programmed. It encompasses various techniques, including supervised learning (where models learn from labeled examples), unsupervised learning (finding patterns in unlabeled data), and reinforcement learning (agents learn through trial and error). ML algorithms improve their performance over time by adjusting their internal parameters based on training data.?

Natural Language Processing (NLP) focuses on enabling computers to understand, interpret, and generate human language. Initially rule-based, NLP has evolved to incorporate statistical methods and machine learning. It deals with syntax, semantics, and context, allowing machines to process and generate text. It makes language humane to machine. What talks like humans and walk like humans? Not human but GenAI perhaps....?

Deep Learning (DL) is a subset of ML that employs neural networks with multiple layers (deep architectures). These networks learn hierarchical representations from data. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) excel in image recognition, while Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) handle sequential data. DL has revolutionized fields like computer vision, speech recognition, and natural language understanding.?

How They Relate to GenAI?

GenAI combines the strengths of ML and DL. It uses ML to understand the world and DL's deep neural networks to create something entirely new. Like an offspring inheriting traits from both parents, GenAI bridges the gap between understanding and creativity, pushing the boundaries of AI applications.
