Days lost per employee increased at a faster clip for 21- to 25-year-olds than for the population as a whole between 2019 and 2022, according to employee wellness consultant GoodShape. Those in their early 20s are now missing about eight work days every year — approaching the pre-pandemic number for those in their early 50s.

“The assumption has always been that the younger generation is healthier and the older generations tend to be sicker,” says GoodShape’s Chief Executive Officer Alun Baker. “Contrary to what everybody expected, Gen Z are closing the gap between them and the older generations in the workforce now. A big portion of that is mental health issues.”

To be sure, the over-30 crowd is still missing more days — between nine and 12 for workers in their 30s, 40s and 50s with those numbers rising from pre-Covid levels, too.

Taking 9 to 12 sick days per year is perfectly acceptable. What if someone has to endure a surgery or a sudden disease? We need to stop this blaming working culture

Look, the Gen-Z, had been exposed to high stress, during the pandemic. Even other Gens, stress easily nowadays. The other Gens where already independent and seen abit of Life... Thats one of the reasons, that a push for a 4-day week. More people will get hired, more work will be done - better quality. Some articles call them the artist generation. If we use an analogy of a farm, then our best crop was the Gen Y or Millennials. (okay, there might be a small bias in this :)
