Gen Z May Be Getting a Bad Rap

Stop it. Yes, stop complaining about Generation Z. As a culture expert, I have conversations with all of the generations.??A comment that I hear often is that Gen Z does not like to work hard.??A common request from clients is for assistance to understand Gen Z.?My first piece of advice is to stop stereotyping Gen Z. Today everyone wants to group think everything and everyone. The solution, develop one-on-one relationships regardless of the generation.??A relationship is never one over another, it’s a compromise between two or more people. A true relationship is respectful and requires listening, understanding, caring, and compromising. All of these skills are lacking due to the overuse of technology, the virtual work environment, and exasperated by the lingering effects of the Covid lock down.??Gen Z is not lazy, in fact, many have it right when it comes to work.??They do not believe 1) that the employer is always right and 2) that they should die at work.??They have grown up in an age where, in my opinion, there is little loyalty from the employer. They know they are expendable, so they in turn do not have loyalty either. Gen Z understands and demands work-life balance. They have shown their older Millennials and Baby Boomers about balance, and I thank them for that lesson.??What then can we do as employers to attract and retain Gen Z???Take the time to get to know them individually!??Promote and build genuine relationships with and between individuals among the team! Understand the needs and wants of all your employees! Respect and Value Everyone! Let us start a conversation below on your thoughts on this topic.?I look forward to the conversation! 1 年I can say that some of Gen Z are more brave & fearless as they don't take caution on things the previous generations have know to take ... They are more focused on Educating themselves or becoming specialists in something they are passionate about ??
