Gen Z has a new source for news, inside TikTok’s first live concert, 25 rising stars in Hollywood

Here’s what to expect in this week’s edition:?
"News" on TikTok rarely comes from mainstream outlets, an August study from researchers at Northwestern determined.?
"We find almost no evidence of proactive news exposure on TikTok's behalf," the study concludes.
Instead, Dan Whateley wrote that young people on TikTok learn about what's happening from commentary accounts and non-news influencers.
"Platforms don't seem to be that interested in making a space for news," said Nick Hagar, a coauthor of the Northwestern report who now works as a data scientist at The New York Times. This "new dynamic," he said, is "going to impact what people see and what people think of as important."
TikTok is a top app for music discovery, and over the weekend it hosted its first in-person concert.
The live event was also streamed on TikTok.
