Gen Z – The generation that wants it all!
It’s 2022. The ‘unprecedented’ times have seemingly come to an end with many giant tech companies adopting a flexible/hybrid mode of work. Forrester survey data suggests that most of the companies (51%) plan to adopt a hybrid strategy, 15% plan to be “remote-first” after the pandemic, and around a third (34%) will return to the office every day of the week.?
?Let’s now address the elephant in the room. What does Gen Z want from this arrangement??
?A full-fledged agenda
Gen Z is finicky about their agenda. Whether it’s a meeting between 3 pm - 5 pm or a seminar that requires mandatory attendance, a heads up on why they need to be present in the office immensely helps.
Chemistry and bonds
Recently, I visited a start-up where the team met for the first time and instantly commingled with each other after working from home for 2 years. It was a delight to watch them having lunch and synergising. So yes, bonding and chemistry is what they look for.?
Their ‘space’
After working from home for over 2 years, It’s pertinent that Gen Z worships their privacy and everyone else's. Working in their element holds a significant priority after stepping out of their comfort zone. This effectively helps being more productive, too.
To be optimally resourceful
Whether it is an expensive display monitor for graphic designers, a VR device for visualizers, or a Bloomberg terminal in my line of work, investing in technology helps in being resourceful. It also helps in upskilling and learning which they’re unquestionably eager to do.
Real-time networking
Gen Z is inherently active when it comes to real-time networking. They’re persistently on the hunt for opportunities to grow their networking base and make connections.?
What generation do you belong to? Do you think these demands are limited only to Gen Z??
