Gen AI, practical implementation is cooking

While I'm no AI expert, I'm working to keep pace with its rapid developments. There's an incredible amount of activity in the AI space! With the massive budgets being invested in generative AI, I believe we've only scratched the surface of potential disruptions.

Here is an overview of a few sides of the generative AI landscape:

The AI Revolution: OpenAI Leads $5.5B+ Investment Wave in Generative AI

OpenAI has confirmed its position as one of the world's most valuable startups, reaching a valuation of $157B and claiming the top spot on CNBC's Disruptor 50 list. The past year has witnessed unprecedented investment in generative AI, with (only a few) companies raising over $5.5B.

2025: The Year of AI Implementation

While 2024 brought a surge of new ideas and drastic investments, 2025 is set to be the year of practical implementation as the industry focuses on identifying truly effective AI solutions.

Despite substantial investments, no groundbreaking applications have emerged beyond transcripts, video/audio/design creation, and productivity tools. Let's hope 2025 brings applications that could truly transform our world!

Impact on Productivity and Development

Chat features and emerging coding tools have shown promising early adoption rates. Several success stories have already emerged:

  • Software developers using generative AI have reported 30–40% productivity gains (my company is expecting 15% productivity Gain on Software development time)
  • Call centers have seen up to 30% efficiency improvements, with AI helping new workers learn best practices faster
  • Product development life cycles (pdlc) are expected to shrink dramatically, potentially reducing timelines from months to days. This is valid for brand new products, impact on legacy pdlc is not that visible.

Workforce Impact

Looking ahead, AI is expected to redefine jobs across all wage levels, with higher-income positions likely seeing the most significant changes. While this transformation promises greater efficiency and creativity, it also raises crucial questions about workforce adaptation and responsible AI development.

“10% of tasks” is How much of some 80% of the US workforce's jobs will be redefined by GenAI in the coming decade. This influence spans all wage levels, with higher-income jobs potentially facing greater exposure.

An industrial revolution

Steffan Heuer presents two possible scenarios: a positive outcome where AI leads an increased efficiency and productivity, a more concerning scenario involving worker displacement and mistrust.

If all goes well, AI will usher in another industrial revolution marked by increased efficiency, productivity and creativity. If things don't turn out that rosy, however, the world will be facing widespread worker displacement, a rising level of mistrust regarding the outputs of our new machine sidekicks and, perhaps, even a fundamental disconnect between what we perceive as human agency and what inscrutable, black box systems decide for us and could ultimately do to us.STEFFAN HEUER

Market Growth and Future Outlook

The AI software market is projected to expand from $64B in 2022 to $251B by 2027, with generative AI platforms.

More applications are cooking as I am writing this article. Such budgets are boosting creativity and pushing Gen AI faster than any other past technology transformation.

AI and its child "Gen AI" are both a kind of revolution, which changes basically everyday, in a speed that everyone is waiting what will happen tomorrow. Which technology will do it better and which one will become obsolete ? From my point of view, yes, I see it is real revolution if we judge it from capacity of achieving and quality... but how it will impact out future, if we will rely on it more than humans ? Adopting the Gen AI by the companies in different sectors becomes kind of "mode" and "Development" nowadays, so we hear terms like : - AI powered product - Solution based on AI or Gen AI Personally, I tested some of the tools and they stay computing tools, and will never reach the intelligence of humans... They can beat the speed and load testing, because the tasks are running on high performant computers, but they stay products that human designed and teached via the training models.... Let us hope that this technology will stay Ethical, and won't be used against humanity, like in wars ... These are only thoughts, I might be wrong, but not sure if GPT or Gemini are okay with me or not ??

Nice piece, but its not all Gen AI, AI Agents and Automation through Orchestration of workflows will become a key part of this revolution.
