We utilize AI in everything at the HIVE . From making it our collaborative creative partner to using it for data analytics for our conference and learning program feedback. I don't think a day goes by where AI, specifically either Gemni or ChatGPT is utilized. But the question is which do we feel is better for all sorts of challenges we humans face and which is more responsive with the desired human element our team craves. I did the comparison for you so you can see why we picked the one we did as the dominant AI. But also, I wanted you to see and feel the importance of great prompting. Hopefully, this sparks for you a way to utilize these tools in your everyday world, be it at work or personally.?
In my keynote presentation on AI, the future of everything, and how to leverage AI tools, I share a compelling story that not only highlights a common consumer technology issue but also demonstrates the power of effective AI prompting in action. I recently encountered a problem with the iPhones on my family plan: three of the five phones were somehow linked.?
This meant that calls, FaceTime, and texts intended for my youngest son were being received by two other family members' phones as well. Despite our best efforts, the issue persisted, leading me to seek a solution through AI.
Original Prompt Used for GPT and Gemini:
Here was my original prompt for AI tools
"I am struggling to understand why three people in my family, all with iPhones on the same plan, seem to have their phones linked in a way that calls, FaceTime, and texts for one are received by the others. No matter what we've tried, the issue persists. Can you please help me figure out why this is happening and how to fix it?"
Key to My Approach with the Prompt. The Human Element
My method goes beyond merely asking for a solution; it involves a deep dive into the problem with a collaborative spirit. I treat the AI as a partner in problem-solving, providing a comprehensive description of the issue and openly seeking assistance. This approach is works for two reasons:
RESPONSES:?
ChatGPT:?
"First off, thanks for letting me work on this with you. I am here to help. The issue you're experiencing with calls, FaceTime, and texts being shared among iPhones in your family is likely due to the settings related to Apple's iCloud and the sharing features within iOS. Here are some common reasons this could be happening and steps you can take to resolve it:
If all devices are logged into the same Apple ID, they will receive the same calls, messages, and FaceTime requests. This is because the Apple ID is used to sync this information across devices.
Solution:
Even with different Apple IDs, certain settings can cause call and message sharing if devices are improperly configured.
Solution:
Apple's Handoff and Continuity features allow for calls and messages to be answered from any device signed into the same Apple ID. This can also contribute to the issue if not configured correctly.

Additional Tips
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and ensure that calls, texts, and FaceTime calls are only received by the intended recipient. If you continue to experience problems, come back to me and we can keep working on this together."
Gemini:?
"I understand your frustration! This phenomenon can occur for a few reasons, and I'll guide you through the most likely culprits and how to resolve them:

Analysis.?
Analyzing the responses from GPT and Gemini to the issue with linked iPhones within my family plan, we can observe the strengths in each approach to determine a winner based on thoroughness, clarity, and user-friendliness. After all, this is how we would evaluate a human customer service agent.
GPT Response:
Gemini Response:
Comparison and Winner:
Both GPT and Gemini offer valuable insights into resolving the linked iPhone issue, with each presenting clear, structured advice. GPT's response stands out for its accuracy, especially in the correct handling of Apple IDs and the comprehensive overview of potential settings adjustments. It provides actionable steps without any inaccuracies regarding Apple's services and account management, making it a more reliable source of information for users.
Gemini's mention of a carrier-specific feature adds a unique perspective, acknowledging external factors that might contribute to the issue. However, the slight inaccuracy regarding Apple ID management detracts from its overall reliability.
Winner: GPT's Respons:
I would say that GPT's response is the winner due to its thoroughness, clarity, and accuracy of the information provided. I find that this is a common reason GPT wins in this fight over a wide array of issues. I could give you over 100 other examples. It covers all bases without introducing any confusion about how Apple's ecosystem functions, making it an excellent resource for consumers facing similar issues. My philosophy of treating AI as a collaborative partner makes this a more powerful scenario, demonstrating how detailed and well-considered prompts can lead to effective and practical solutions for everyday technological challenges.
Which do you feel was more effective? Either way, it's clear that there was another set of losers in this dynamic, Google and Apple. I do not bother to utilize either of these tools for service. I no longer Google information. I just talk to my friend, ChatGPT.
