GEEQ Lunch & Talk - Networking lunch for women in data
Are you hungry for networking opportunities with other women in technology? Do you crave an authentic and personal career chat with women leaders? It was so great to see how many of you said yes and wanted to attend GEEQ's Lunch & Talk!
GEEQ teamed up with Data Futurology to host an exclusive networking lunch for 15 community members on 31 August 2022 at the Hyatt Regency in Sydney. In order to secure a ticket, the participants had to answer to the following:
Share your story of how you have been supported or how you have been supporting the career progression of women in IT.
It was fascinating to read about the inspiring answers and journeys of our community members. Here are some examples:
Shaila Pervin, PhD wrote: "I try to seek advice whenever I need to make any decision. This has been extremely helpful and comforting. I also do mentoring. I did mentoring as part of Monash Alumni and I also mentor my fellow juniors from my university in Bangladesh via a Facebook group."
Dr Farina Riaz shared with us: "Its hard to conduct challenging research with 2 boys and family responsibilities. Being a female, I am strong, brave, confident and know how to be good at problem solving tasks."
And Maggie Liuzzi wrote: "Throughout the years, I've volunteered at the UTS Women in Engineering and IT (WiEIT), giving talks at high schools encouraging teenagers to look into STEM careers, Girls Programming Network (GPN), tutoring high school and primary school girls in Python and some fun electronics, and Code Like a Girl, helping organise events for women in and looking to enter the tech industry. I've also privately tutored a 12 year old girl and then her even younger brother (who got inspired by her) in all things coding, and I've informally mentored and advised countless women looking to acquire technical skills who reach out to me through LinkedIn."
