Geelong Women in Business International Women’s Day Breakfast 2018
Last year was the first year we held our International Women’s Day Breakfast at Winters Café with the lovely Julia Warren from Buxton Real Estate. Tickets sold quickly and we had a packed house, so we thought this year we would take it bigger and wow did it get bigger.
With the help of Perfect Events and The Impact Workshop in support of The Salvation Army and Salvos Stores, we held our 2018 International Women’s Day Breakfast at The Federal in North Geelong with a sold out room of almost 100 ladies.
Our very special guest speakers Kirsty, Hilary & Sandi really turned it on for our ladies and we all walked away very inspired and ready to take on #iwd2018
Kirsty showed us how to style a number of different outfits using local boutiques and designers, as well as second-hand vintage goods from the Salvos Stores for every occasion. We learned everything from dressing up the basics, to dressing for nursing a child. We are still not sure on the wardrobe audit advice… eek!
Hilary took us on a journey of self-discovery and what it means to be comfortable in your own skin. Her ride has been full of lessons that she kindly shared and passed on to us with respect to both personal and professional hurdles. We learned some very handy make up tips and how to showcase your natural beauty and embrace being a woman.
Sandi took us privately into her public world of being a single mum in the spotlight, whilst raising two gorgeous and confident young girls. Her story was filled with twists and turns, career and life changes, and the most important lessons learned from the likes of her Nonna. Sandi chatted about dealing with negative and positive social media feedback and how to navigate in this new face-paced world online.
