Gedankenexperiment (δε?κνυμι) - Imagine You Are a Refugee, Seeking Shelter, from the Storm

Granted, it is a counterfactual. 

You are comfortable, middle class, arguing about the Super Bowl, and the plays the players played. 

You have never known violent, military conflict.

You have never experienced bombs falling on your heads, you have never laid awake, at night, imagining whether biological weapons are about to be deployed, and whether your family, your wife, your children, are about to be exterminated by some sinister chemical force composed for some sinister corporation, arising out of Moscow, or Washington, for cynical profit.

But bear with me for a moment.

A simple gedankenexperiment.

A simple thought experiment.

Honestly, how would you *feel*?

Would you hope for some compassion, from your *friends* in the West?

Or would you appreciate the fact that "money is money," "profit is profit," and "tradeoffs happen," even if those tradeoffs entail human extermination.

Perform a simple "gedankenexperiment," and look to your souls.
