Gedalya enters Grammy contention with This Is My World
Geoffrey Sloshay
Gedalya also known as The Folk Rock Rabbi is an artist firmly embracing the genres of Folk and Roots, his music is reaching a growing audience around the globe, touching listener’s hearts in every corner of the world.
2023 and 2024 combined to be standout years for American Singer Songwriter Gedalya as he released his groundbreaking album This is My World. An artist firmly embracing the genres of Folk and Roots, his spirituality and faith have provided him with a platform to explore music through a different lens. A teacher and guide supported by a rich tapestry of influences; Gedalya is taking steps to reshape the way audiences view his world.
11 tracks that blessed audiences with toe tapping grooves and vocal hooks that triggered memories of artists from yesteryear, it is the complete selection of songs which are way beyond the disposable pop of today’s music industry. Heartfelt lyrics and multiple instruments from the orchestra of strings, brass, keys, woodwind and more, caress the soul with a constant narrative of changing dimensions.
The diverse songs come from his background of poetry and a lifetime playing to live audiences in New York. For 20 years he has been exploring different cultures and imparting his knowledge to those who want to share his journey. Much like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, it is all about being true to the craft and searching for oneself through music. Dedicating himself to promoting peace, love, compassion and togetherness, he walks the walk by performing for inmates who are languishing in jail.
With 5 albums already in the bag and This Is My World being the next step on his journey, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences are taking notice of his work. Up for contention in Best New Album, Best Folk Album, Songwriter of the Year and Best American Roots Performance for the single I Walk Along, Gedalya is making his presence known on the global stage.

Freely stating that he is a Folk Singer through and through, the entire album is an honest portrayal of Americana at its finest. From the Appalachian trail, to hints of Bluegrass and writing songs about the way he sees it, the traditional beauty of Gedalya’s songs is something that has been missing in our lives. It will not be lost on audiences who dream of a place where joy reigns, that this is something we need in a troubled world.
