Gebrik - Perfect for low-rise housing
At Aquarian Cladding Systems Ltd , we have been working on what we believe to be a great product for the low-rise housing market in the UK. A panel of circa 60 brick slips (1m2), pre-cast into a PU core, providing exceptional thermal performance and fast installation.
The components
These panels can be manufactured in a variety of bond patterns, shapes and sizes. As a result, Gebrik can provide a pre-manufactured solution to almost all variations of building details, corners, soffits and reveals.
We have developed a product that can be ordered as a kit of parts for a specific property type again and again. Or, just as a one off!
Weather and Speed
With all of these panels arriving on-site pre-manufactured, they are exceptionally weather resistant and can be installed in almost all weather conditions (here's looking at you, UK winter months!).
What's more, being pre-panelised, the rate of installation is exceptionally speedy, at approximately 40m2 per day, by one of our approved installers!
Finishes
Now, one of the criticisms often pointed towards brick slip systems is their inability to truly replicate a genuine brick finish.
We've covered this with over 700 different finishes of brick slips ranging from purpose made extruded slips, to genuine bricks from some of the leading manufacturers throughout Europe. You'll be spoilt for choice!
Pricing
There are eight pricing groups to chose from, meaning we can cover the very competitive end of the market. Right through to something a little more bespoke.
With such a variety of options, we have developed a product that can cater competitively on large volume residential developments, to smaller bespoke properties where the external finish is inherently more unique!
Thermal Performance
As we mentioned above, Gebrik is a brick slip system cast into PU with an overall thickness of 60mm.

When combined with an additional layer of insulation behind the Gebrik panel, we can achieve a U-value of 0.18 W/m2K in as little as a 190mm of total cladding zone (outside of a blockwork inner leaf to front face of Gebrik).
That performance could increase the internal floorspace of a property, or combined across a number of units, could save enough space for an additional development on site.
Off-site
Speaking of sites, off-site construction is a topic we seem to be having discussions on more frequently as the days go by. Again, we've thought about this with Gebrik. One of the typical issues with installing a brick based facade off-site, is the potential cracking of mortar during transportation.
However, as the Gebrik slips are pre-cast into a carrier panel, they are already less prone to movement. To accommodate this issue further, we have also been working hand-in-hand with specialist mortar suppliers to ensure we have access to a system that is flexible enough to be pointed off-site in a factory controlled environment as well.
That means, Gebrik can be installed onto a steel or timber frame panel and delivered to site pre-pointed and ready to go.
Modular
If a development has a more modular focus, we have already put together a set of example property types incorporating a specified set of Gebrik components. Ideally tailored to minimum waste, modular build-ups.
With our support, Gebrik can be used to build homes from a catalogue of pre-defined components, detailing the number of homes per delivery, and pallets of Gebrik per home. These catalogues can be tailored to individual contractors, builders and developers requirements.
These are just ideas we have already come up with!
On-Site
Once Gebrik arrives on-site, either affixed to a pre-assembled frame, or in its standard components for installation in situ, it's lightweight and easy to handle. Therefore, it can be installed without the requirements of scaffolding via Scissor Lifts and MEWP's.
It's also extremely neat and tidy, with no wet trade required to install the panels or hard-standing areas needed for specific storage.
Only a small percentage of slips are required to be adhesively fixed on-site where panels come together.
Accreditation and Certification
Perhaps more importantly than any of the information above is the assurance that any given product has the certification required to be used in the UK market.
Thankfully, Gebrik is BBA approved, CWCT tested, classified as B s1, d0 and comes with an insurance backed guarantee as well.
We hope you have found this an interesting read, and if you do have any questions, or would like to discuss Gebrik with us at Aquarian Cladding Systems Ltd in more detail, please do get in touch!
