Equipment Servicing & Repair

This month we're putting a spotlight on our dedicated service and repair centre here at Fibreplus. December is the best time to service your kit and get it ready for installation & testing in the new year, experiencing less downtime and having the security of knowing your equipment is in tip-top shape. Our service technicians are expertly trained, offering calibration, servicing and repairs on a broad range of EXFO Equipment and Arc Fusion Splicers, including the latest software updates, connector replacements, calibration certificates, PAT testing and full equipment cleaning with a typical 3-5 day turnaround, so you can get your kit looking, feeling and behaving brand new in time for the new year.

Our service centre now offers screen protectors for EXFO MaxTesters so you can prevent damage to your kit - we also replace cracked and damaged MaxTester screens, so we've got you covered either way!

Fibreplus Telecommunications Training

Have some extra time during the holiday season? Pick up a new skill or brush up on your existing skillset with telecommunications training from Fibreplus.

On 15th December we're running our in-house Basic Testing Course which is open to anyone interested in gaining knowledge of fibre testing at a basic level. The course includes information on:

• Health and safety
• Visual fault locator testing & insertion loss testing (LS & PM)
• Inspecting connector end faces
• Introduction to OTDR testing including OTDR set up

There's no requirements for this course and at just ￡375 (excluding VAT) it's a perfect opportunity to get into the cutting edge industry of telecommunications.

Have some experience under your belt or have taken the 3668-02 course? Our Level 3 Design & Planning Course 3667-03 is the perfect next step for your career. This course is geared towards cabling professionals seeking knowledge of infrastructure design.

• Unit 1: Basic principles and concepts of designing and planning a communications infrastructure in a range of environments.
• Unit 2: internal network cabling infrastructure, including internal underground cable routes and internal or campus communications infrastructure.
• Unit 3 and Unit 4 cover external overhead and underground communications infrastructure and workflow activities.

This course has 4 weeks of online learning followed by home-based projects and an in-house exam - the last day to sign up for this course is 20th December for 2024 dates, so act fast!

Tier 1 Testing with the FLS-600

What's the deal with Tier 1 testing anyway? Our sales department is regularly asked if light source kits are necessary for fibre testing, and our response is always ABSOLUTELY for Tier 1 testing! While Maxtesters can do in-depth testing of the overall fibre network and fault-finding, in regards to Tier 1 testing it's kind of like driving a Formula 1 car for your 10 minute daily commute. Tier 1 testers like the EXFO ILM Kit, which includes the EXFO FLS-600 Light Source, are an important first step to any network testing. You can measure insertion loss much easier and faster with these kits so you can identify any performance issues before going in later for in-depth testing and analysis.

The FLS-600 Light Source is designed to generate a controlled, stable light signal at multiple wavelengths simultaneously, eg. 1310 and 1550 nm, that help you test exact losses in your fibre network alongside an optical power meter like the PX1. It's portable, durable, reliable and fit for testing single-mode and multi-mode fibres.

Holiday Schedule

Christmas is quickly approaching, and we want to make sure you have time to place those end-of-year orders. Our office will be closed from end-of-day on the 22nd December to 2nd January - that means the last day to place your service order is the 13th December, and the last day to place your sales and hire orders is 19th December.
