Gearing Up for Automation

Gearing Up for Automation

I hear a lot of buzz going on regarding automation. How machine learning is quickly getting ahead of time and how most of the blue collar jobs will be replaced by robots in coming future. Somehow, a little apprehension about the new world makes me go haywire .

Things will change for sure, however will it take a whole hyperbola turn?. Are our job is at risk?, Will in near future we can see robots as our sub ordinates or even boss?. Or maybe it just hoax created by few industry rousers.

Well, I have gone through numerous articles regarding the repercussions of AI and found out few interesting points .

Redundancy will be out

Yes, its true that most of the jobs which comes under the definition of blue collar jobs will be soon out of the market and its already happening in the developed countries such as U.S.A. E-commerce giant Amazon has started their drone delivery system which has made delivery guys go jobless. Similarly, McDonald’s is also planning to reduce the role of cashiers in their counters by replacing them with automatic check ins.

Companies will become immensely profitable

Because of the substantial amount of cost which will be decrease by hiring the robots at workplaces. Companies specially the manufacturing one will earn more profit. There expenses will be down and productivity will be much higher. Ultimately the overall jinx is, exorbitant revenue for companies and suffering human workforce.

Competency at its high

No doubt, the level of efficiency in all the sectors will be at all time high. The amount of work and expertise AI can bring inside the units is just insane. However, there will be more of technical glitch coming into picture often because of the gargantuan use of technology. The productivity will be off the charts and seamless transition of by products will give industry owners a reason to smile.

Now, from the employees perspective let me share some insights about how the job market will be shaped

Increase in Demand for skilled specialist

Well, the demand for experts in the field of robotics will increase. Machine learning, Big data analytics and computing experts will get a much larger share of pie in the job market. There will be slew of job opportunities for high end labour force.

Increase in pay check

It is also interesting to note that while low level and middle level jobs will be pretty much become obsolete the white collar employees will have an increase in their pay check which will be much bigger then what they expect right now from the industry.

Shortage of skilled oracles in the varied AI industry will also be a significant factor in consistent pay rise of employees.

These all things are mere speculations. We really don’t know what is next for us. It is just an assessment which gives a hypothetical picture of how AI going to effect us all.

However, one thing is sure millennials will have to be readily acclimatise and pave their way to assimilate themselves in a technology driven, automated environment. Period
