What’s one thing Uber, Twitter, and DoorDash?had in common?in 2022? Managing the devastating impact of a data breach. Enhancing cybersecurity may not have been top of mind when you set 2023 New Year's Resolutions, but with more and more organizations falling victim to this growing phenomenon, now is the time to revisit your strategy. This is especially true for those managing large amounts of customer or employee data.?

Depending on the size of your organization, you may already have security protocols in place. While larger organizations may appeal to cybercriminals seeking a higher payoff, small to midsize companies without a plan make for easier targets.?

Here are a few steps you can take right away to protect you and your organization in 2023:

1. Secure your accounts.?Search for your email address on?Have I Been Pwned??To cross-reference it with reported data breaches.
2. Reset passwords for the apps you use.?Use a password management tool like?1Password?to safely generate, encrypt and store credentials for any app you use without the headache of having to remember all of your passwords.
3. Enable multi-factor authentication.?Whenever possible, use two-step authentication. This method requires two steps to enable access to the app or website such as providing a temporary code via text or, even better, an authenticator app.

By making a few simple changes to your devices and accounts, you can protect yourself and your organization from a data breach before it’s too late.
