GDPR update: System supplier data processing information now available
PSNC has now collated information on pharmacy system suppliers to support community pharmacy contractors in working towards compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The GDPR requires data Controllers to be more conscious and careful about giving personal data to others to process – their processors – and community pharmacy is no exception. One of a pharmacy’s main processors will be its PMR supplier and the aggregator (usually by the PMR supplier) which together transfer prescription data from the community pharmacy to the NHS.
As PSNC Director of Operations and Support, Gordon Hockey, stated in his Getting to grips with GDPR article about processors, contractors will need to ensure the necessary GDPR safeguards are included in the relevant contract (or sometimes legal provision).
Set out below are links to the relevant data processing notices as provided by a number of pharmacy system suppliers.
