GDI Engines - Walnut Blasting or H2 DeCarb?

Colleagues,

This article shares a photo of the exhaust port of a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine.

These engines are designed for more horsepower & more MPG (many times they are a small engine w a turbo).

A result of the design is carbon build in the exhaust port. Owners tend to notice a decrease in performance as the exhaust port fills up with carbon.

How to clean out the carbon?

>Walnut Blasting - manufacturers use walnut blasting to remove the carbon build in the exhaust port. This involves both a lot of time by the technician and can cost $2,000 or so.

Does walnut blasting sound like a "modern solution?"

All it does is clean the exhaust port and does nothing for the carbon build in the combustion chamber, fuel injectors, turbo, EGR and catalytic convertor.

Walnut blasting (anything akin such as chemicals/foams) are incomplete solutions/ancient solutions.

>H2 End-to-End Engine Decarb - unlike Walnut Blasting, this is a complete decarb of the engine from combustion thru catalytic convertor.

Initial decarb 60 minutes. Thereafter, 45 minutes.

This DeCarb, when continued as a preventative maintenance item, is a complete DeCarb and is non invasive.

Invasive (Walnut Blasting) / Non Invasive (H2 DeCarb)- your choice!

Consider the walnut blasting as invasive an an incomplete DeCarb. Walnut Blasting is similar to cracking open your chest for a heart repair with a long recovery.

On the other hand, H2 End-to-End Engine decarb is non invasive, is a complete DeCarb complete, costs a lot less, takes 60 minutes and, is akin to a day surgery that allows you to be back on your feet the very same day.

Houston Pricing - H2 DeCarb, includes 2lbs smoked #craftbacon
