GCash joins forces with Mapúa to enhance FinTech program
Leading organizations partner to produce industry-ready fintech graduates
To help institutionalize Financial Technology (FinTech) as an emerging field of study, leading STEM university, Mapúa, has tapped the expertise of the Philippines’ no. 1 finance super app, GCash, to further develop its ‘Bachelor of Science in Financial Technology’. The program will combine formal tertiary education and professional immersion with fintech industry leaders and is the newest undergraduate program under Mapúa’s? E.T. Yuchengco School of Business, in collaboration with Arizona State University.
GCash and Mapúa formally inked their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing held at Mapúa University's Makati campus on August 30, 2023. Signing the agreement were GCash chief people officer Robert Conrad Gonzales, Mapua University president and CEO Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, and Dr. Jagdeep Jassel, Dean of the ETY School of Business.
The partnership between GCash and Mapúa University signifies a remarkable synergy between academia and the fintech industry, where theoretical knowledge converges with real-world application. The launch of the BS in Finance Technology program marks a transformative step towards equipping students with the skills and insights needed to excel in the rapidly evolving landscape of financial technology.
“We recognize that partnerships with universities are crucial in the pursuit of our financial inclusion goals, as we are always looking for fresh young talents to join the G Nation. We intend to continue investing in the youth as the fintech industry continues to grow rapidly,” says Gonzales.

Since the pandemic, fintech leader GCash has helped reduce the number of unbanked Filipinos, providing savings, credit, insurance, wealth growth, and other financial services that had only been available to a few in the past. Believing that the goal of finance for all should be a continuous and sustainable journey, GCash has begun partnering with universities not only to fill up career opportunities in their organizations but also to be the training ground for future fintech leaders.
The partnership between Mapúa and GCash will encompass immersions, and experiential learning. Best of all, it will involve the co-development of subjects leveraging GCash’s industry experience. 1 年I understand that you may find the tone of this message unconventional, but I want to stress that the frustration I'm expressing is a direct result of the errors made by your customer service representatives and fraud team. Furthermore, I was given a promise of a direct callback from your "Executive Escalations Team," which unfortunately never materialized. I earn my income as a freelancer and utilize both Gcash and my bank account for transactions, with occasional transfers to my Gcash account. Today, I encountered a problem while attempting an online purchase. To my surprise, my Gcash account was suspended shortly after receiving a 700 pesos transfer from my girlfriend. This suspension stemmed from an accusation of scamming involving a mere 550 pesos. I must emphasize that my monthly transactions consistently range from 50,000 to 70,000 pesos. Given the substantial activity in my account, it seems highly unreasonable for your fraud team to suspect me of attempting to scam such a small amount as 550 pesos.

Since I still have a few thousand pesos in my account, you said you'll give me temporary access (so I can withdraw it) if I execute a quitclaim (which you also provided). July 25 - I submitted the duly notarized quitclaim which says you have already given me my money eventhough I am yet to even withdraw it. Today is September 21 and you still have my money and your 2882 agents deliberately mute, drop or end my call AND continue to make useless follow up reports (kahit na 10000 follow up reports pa gawin NILA kung Hindi naman magrereply ang specialist team ninyo, so anong use?). Simple lang Tanong ko: kailan ang estimated date of resolution nito. Ang sagot ninyo: 1. Please be patient 2. I know you are frustrated 3. We are still waiting for feedback from specialist team 4. This will be solved when the specialist team is done with this 5. We need more time (Diyos ko, 10 weeks na) Hindi ko ma escalate ang concern ko kasi walang ganun. Yung specialist team ninyo, walang update. Kahit na follow up ng 2882 agents, Hindi pa rin Sila nag a update.
