GBTA will host its first ever Sustainability Summit in Brussels

GBTA, the Global Business Travel Association, will host its first ever Sustainability Summit in Brussels on Tuesday 8th November 2022 – focusing on driving action on the Race to Net Zero. Register here!

Venue : - Square – Brussels Convention Centre, Mont des Arts/Kunstberg B-1000 Brussels. Situated on the imposing Mont des Arts with a broad vista over Brussels, SQUARE sits in the historical and cultural heart of the city, very close to the centre of European government.

This one-day, high-level event, will bring together experts, industry and policy leaders to outline concrete solutions to decarbonize business travel, in alignment with the Paris Climate Goals – and concurrently to the 27th UN Climate Summit (COP 27), taking place in Egypt from 7 to 18 November.

The Summit will foster connections and exchange by providing a forum for frank discussions about challenges and opportunities to drive climate action in the business travel sector. Key topics on the agenda cover:

  • Race to Net Zero: what role can business travel play in leading the transition and multi-stakeholder collaboration
  • Decarbonizing business travel: learning from best practices including modal shift, sustainable aviation fuels, carbon budgets?
  • Measuring emissions:?how to get accurate data on scope 3 emissions, with a focus on air travel?
  • Green hospitality: how to navigate the various criteria and certifications
  • Electromobility: how to bridge the gap on electrification and rethink mobility
  • Financing the transition:?driving investments alongside ESG performance

Confirmed speakers include Walter Goetz, Head of Cabinet for Commissioner V?lean; MEP Jan-Christoph Oetjen; Zlatko Kregar from DG MOVE; Brune Poison, Chief Sustainability Officer for Accor and Former French Secretary of State for the Environment; Paul Abbott, CEO American Express Global Business Travel; Glenn Mandziuk, CEO Sustainable Hospitality Alliance; and Kim Carnahan, head of the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) among others.
