Gaza, Israel, and the campus protests

I don't post, but I did just create a blog.

With the Ilhan Omar asserted Israel genocide campaign in full swing on many college campuses (The anti-Semitic lie at the heart of too many campus protests--Frida Ghitis, CNN), it’s ever more important to recognize the complexities of the Israel/Gaza situation. Allegations of genocide, of course, pre-date October 7, 2023, but as Ghitis notes, “Population growth of almost 600% [in Gaza since 1967] would make it the most inept genocide in the history of the world.” Genocide libel aside, the events in Israel on Oct 7, and the actions since, bear understanding beyond a “free Palestine” chant and the heartbreaking loss of life in Gaza and Israel.

Ellen and I were in Israel and the Gaza periphery in March and I compiled some observations, photos, and links from that trip in a blog that I hope you will read. If you know other intellectually curious folks who might want to learn more, please feel free to share.

There aren’t many “free” countries among the two dozen Arab countries in the world. About zero. So those chanting “free Palestine” are ALL ignorant. Sad, but true.
