Goddess Gayatri is called “Veda Mata, the Mother of Vedas”. She represents the manifested form of the ultimate, formless, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and all-pervasive Universal Consciousness called Nirakar-Nirgun-Brahma (Para Brahman, God, Nature, and Paramatma), the source of everything in the universe and Nature. The Goddess Gayatri is the dynamic female force (Shakti-Savitri) of the manifested form (Sagun Brahman) called Trinity (Trimurti) of Lord Brahma (Lord of Creation or Generation), Lord Vishnu (Lord of Development or Operation), and Lord Shia (Lord of Dissolution and Regeneration). Trinity represents the three integral aspects of the creation of Nature, namely, the first stage of creation (Generation), the second stage of development (Operation), and the third stage of maturation (Dissolution).
Are the three letters, G-O-D of GOD a mere coincidence? The Symbolic Form of Goddess Gayatri: 1. Five Heads: The Goddess Gayatri is represented with the five heads, which represent the five basic elements of Nature called Panch-Bhutas. Each and every living being of the universe is, 1. Created with the five elements. It represents Brahma Consciousness. 2. Sustained by the five elements. It represents Vishnu Consciousness. 3. Finally dissolves into the five elements after death. It represents Shiva Consciousness. An Interesting Point: Is the ratio of the three aspects of Trinity (3) and the five heads of Goddess Gayatri a mere coincidence?
The ratio of 3:5 represents the Divyank Ratio or the Golden Ratio, the most economical algorithm of Nature. 2. The Ten Arms: The Goddess Gayatri is represented with the ten arms, the ten hands, and the ten instruments. These ten arms represent the ten stages of development of every created object of Nature. Rig-Veda (9.71.5), "Bhurijo Ahesat dasvarsar Adite upasasthe" The ten (das) sisters of Sun (Aditya) are sent out as ten arms from the Sun. The ten arms of the Goddess Gayatri also represent the ten rays of the Sun-God going in ten directions of the Solar system, namely, the north, the south, the east, the west, the north-west, the north-east, the south-east, the south-west, upwards, and downwards.
The ten arms also represent the ten dimensions of the universe. The Single Female Form: The Goddess Gayatri is represented with a single female body. It means that the Universal Consciousness of God-Nature is one single entity. Eko-Ham-Bahu-Sayam: It means that God-Nature (Ham) is one (Eko) and manifests in multiple forms (Bahu-Sayam). Blue Black Background: It represents the cumulative consciousness of the ultimate, formless, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent Universal Consciousness of Nature. . The Sun (Savitur): The golden rays of the light behind the five heads represent the Light of Sun. The Seat – The Lotus Flower: Goddess Gayatri rests on the Lotus flower, the symbol of purity.
The Serene Lake: The serene lake symbolizes tranquility and equanimity of the mind. The Crescent Moon: This represents time and the fluctuating concrete mind. Third Eye of Intuition – Shiva: This represents the abstract, intuitive and intelligent mind. Pure White Swan - The Symbol of Discrimination: The swan absorbs solids from the milk and leaves behind the water. The Significance of the hand-held objects: The Vessel for Nectar – Karmadal: The vessel used for the collection of immortal nectar (Amrit) of Bliss and Immortality.
Rosary - Japa Mala: It is used to count 108 Mantras and for pin-pointed focus and concentration of the mind. Four Vedas: The four Vedas represent the foundation knowledge of Nature. Revolving Disc - Sudarshan Chakra: The fast rotating and revolving disc of Lord Vishnu is used to eliminate the negative traits and to restore the righteousness (Dharma). Trident – Trishul: This symbol of Lord Shiva represents the removal of ignorance, Self-Realization and the eternal state of Salvation (Moksha). Conch - Shankh - Nautilus Shell - Divyank Ratio: It is the most beautiful creation and the perfect object of Nature.
Lotus – Kamal: One hand holds the Lotus flower. Chandogya Upanishad (IV. 14.3), “Just as water does not cling to the Lotus leaf, so also evil does not cling to the person, who knows Brahman”. It means that we should be detached and maintain distance from the fluctuating evil world. Bow and Arrow - Dhanush-Ban: Mundaka Upanishad (II.2.3), “Take the mighty weapon, the bow (Dhanur), furnished by the Upanishads, fix on it the arrow (ban) sharpened by the constant meditation. Draw it with the mind engaged in contemplation of the Brahman and penetrate that mark, the Imperishable Brahman and unite (Yoga) with God. This is the real meaning of the above verse”.
The Scientific Proof and Evidence: Let us first understand the core meaning and the prime objective of the Gayatri Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad (3.12.1), “Gayantam Trayate iti Gayatri” means that the person, who chants (Gayantam) Gayatri Mantra, is protected (Trayate) by Gayatri. The Essence: The Gayatri Mantra is designed for the divine shield, protection, guidance, and illumination. Now, let us explore, enumerate, and explain the evolution of the Gayatri Mantra. 1. The Original Rig-Veda Gayatri Mantra (3.62.10).
“Tat, Savitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yonah Prachodayat!” The meaning of the three sets of three words of this mantra is as follows. Tat: It represents the Ultimate, Formless, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and all-pervasive Universal Consciousness called Nirakar-Nirgun-Brahman (God-Nature-Paramatma), the source of everything in the universe. The real essence of the Gayatri Mantra was beautifully wrapped in the first mantra, Tat. Savitur: Savitur means the Sun. Varenyam: It means the brilliant effulgence of the light of the Sun. Bhargo: It means splendor. Devasya: It means divine. Dhimahi: It means surrender. Dhio: It means seeking or asking for blessings. Yonah: It means the specific wish. Prachodayat: It means given, graced or blessed by three forms of Goddess Gayatri. The Original Gayatri Mantra means, “I adore that beautiful effulgence of Surya, the Sun-God. I surrender to that divine splendor. I seek and pray for Illumination. I am blessed with Illumination by the presiding deity, Surya.”
The Gayatri Mantra seems like a prayer mantra to the Sun-God for illumination. According to Akhand Sutra, the Gayatri Mantra is dedicated to the three forms of Gayatri. 1. Brahmani (Consort of Brahma): She is prayed at 6 A. M. facing the east. 2. Vaishnavi (Consort of Vishnu): She is prayed at 12 noon facing the north. 3. Rudrani (Consort of Rudra or Shiva): She is prayed at 6 P. M. facing the west. The Essence: Gayatri Mantra is dedicated to Savitur (Aditya-Surya-Sun) and Savita (Savitri-Gayatri), the dynamic form (Shakti-Savitri-Gayatri) of the Core (Source called Shakta-Aditya). Hence, Gayatri Mantra is dedicated to both, the Shakta (core) and the Shakti (dynamic form).
A Special Note: Gayatri is called Veda Mata, which means “The Mother of Vedas”. The core of the original Rig-Veda Gayatri Mantra has not changed at all. This fact proves the uniqueness of the Gayatri Mantra. 2. The Yajur-Veda Gayatri Mantra: With contemplative meditation on the word, Tat, the ancient Indian Sages realized that Tat represents the earth (Bhur), the intermediate sphere (Bhuva), and heaven (Suvah). Hence, Bhur, Bhuva, and Suvah were added to the original Gayatri Mantra. “Bhur Bhuva Suvah, Tat Savitur Varenyam! Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yonah Prachodayat!”

The chanting of this mantra leads to the vibration of every aspect of the earth, intermediate sphere, and heaven and adds the energy of Bhur, Bhuva, and Suvah to the energy of the physical body of the person, who chants the Gayatri Mantra. 3. The Atharva Veda Gayatri Mantra: “Bhur Bhuva Suvah, Tat Savitur Varenyam! Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yonah Prachodayat!” 4. Most Common Gayatri Mantra – Upanishads: With further contemplative meditation on Bhur, Bhuva, and Suvah, the Sages realized that these three entities were an integral part of Maha Mantra, Aum. It was also realized that the chanting the following sounds lead to. 1. “A” leads to the vibrations of the lower abdomen and the Earth (Bhur). 2. “U” leads to vibrations of the chest region and the atmosphere (Bhuva-Antariksh). 3. “M” leads to the vibrations of the head and the heaven (Suvah). Hence, Aum was added later.
“Aum, Bhur Bhuva Suvah, Tat Savitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yonah Prachodayat!” The chanting of this mantra increases the vibrations of the three phenomenal worlds of the earth, intermediate sphere, and heaven as well as the physical human body. This, in turn, strengthens the human body for an experience of the Universal Consciousness.
5. Maha Gayatri Mantra – Maha Narayani Upanishad – Sat-Chakra-Nirupana: On further meditation, the Sages realized that there are seven major planets of the Solar system and the seven major centers of consciousness called Chakras in the human body. As a result, the Sages added seven Vyahritis to the following Maha Gayatri Mantra. “AUM - Bhur, AUM- Bhuvah, AUM - Suvah, AUM - Maha, AUM - Jana, AUM -Tapah, AUM - Satyam! Tat Savitur Varenayam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yo-nah Prachodayath!! AUM, Apo, Jyoti, Raso'mritam, Brahma, Bhur, Bhuvah, Suvah, AUM!!!” Maha Gayatri Mantra has 10 Maha Vyahritis. They activate, awaken and integrate 7 major centers (Chakras). AUM* is repeated 10 times. The chanting of Maha Gayatri Mantra prepares the physical body for higher evolution. 6. Mandukya Upanishad – AUM*: According to Mandukya Upanishad, Maha Mantra, AUM*, consists of the four integral parts, the Akara, “A”, the Ukara, “U”, the Makara, “M”, and the Turiya “*”.
According to Mandukya Upanishad, the Akara, the Ukara, and the Makara are made of the seven independent parts each. The Turiya is made on one part. The concept of 22/21, the first part of Diyank, the Divine Constant, with which the perfect and most beautiful objects of the universe and Nature are designed and created, is hidden in AUM*. Divyank is represented as ((22/21)10.34419)=1.618034. 7. Akhand Gayatri Mantra – Akhand Sutra – Tantra Vidya: With the regular practice of the ten stages of Akhand Yoga, I realized that there are ten major Chakras in the body, which, in turn, are associated with the ten major planets of the Solar system.
As a result, I have further improvised the Gayatri Mantra as Akhand Gayatri Mantra. “AUM* - Bhur, AUM*- Bhuvah, AUM* - Suvah, AUM* - Maha, AUM* - Jana, AUM* -Tapah, AUM* - Gyan, AUM*- Vigyan, AUM*o - Pragyan, AUM* - Satyam! AUM*, Tat Savitur Varenayam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhio Yo-nah Prachodayath!! AUM* - Bhur, AUM*- Bhuvar, AUM* - Jyotir, AUM* - Vayur, AUM* - Amaruta, AUM* -Paramatma, AUM* - Ishvara, AUM*- Surya, AUM* - Antaratma, AUM* - Jivatma, AUM*!!!” Akhand Gayatri Mantra has 10 Maha Vyahritis. They activate, awaken and integrate 10 major centers (Chakras). AUM* is repeated 22 times. The Expanded Meaning of the Gayatri Mantra:
Hence, the meaning of the Gayatri Mantra is as follows. With the chanting of AUM*, I adore that beautiful effulgence of Surya, the Sun-God, the energizer of the three phenomenal worlds of Earth, Atmosphere, and Heaven. I surrender to that divine splendor of the Universal Consciousness, which is the cumulative consciousness of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishu, and Lord Shiva. I seek and pray for Illumination. I am blessed with Illumination by the presiding deity, Surya, 1. The Goddess Brahmani, the consort of Lord Brahma. 2. The Goddess Vaishnavi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. 3. The Goddess Rudrani, the consort of Lord Shiva.
The Ultimate Result, Reward, and Benefit of Akhand Gayatri Mantra: I am glad that with the regular practice of ten stages of Akhand Yoga and conscientious chanting of Akhand Gayatri Mantra, I was able to recognize, conceive, and reveal Divyank, the Divine Constant, with which the perfect and most beautiful objects of the entire universe and Nature are designed and created. Divyank is represented as ((22/21)10.34419) = 1.618034. 1. The number, 22/21 represents the first stage of creation (Brahma Consciousness). 2. The number, 10, represents the ten stages of development (Vishnu Consciousness).
3. The five digits, 0.34419, represent the last stage of maturation (Shiva Consciousness). 4. The sum, 1.618034 represents the most economical algorithm of Nature. 5. 1.618034 is the most approximate decimal value of the Golden Ratio. 6. Divyank is the Divine Mother of the Golden Ratio. . Divyank Ratio is represented as 61.8034% and 38.1966%. 8. This precision is not seen in the Golden Ratio. 9. With Divyank and Divyank Ratio, we can calculate the exact numerical value of every vital biophysical parameter of the adult human anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. 10. With Divyank and Divyank Ratio, we can easily resolve many unresolved mysteries of the universe and Nature.
The Conclusion: The above-detailed knowledge proves that the Goddess Gayatri and the Gayatri Mantra represent the Para Brahman as well as Trinity of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. The Goddess Gayatri also represents the essence of Vedas. For detailed knowledge, please download and read Akhand Sutra from Akhand Vidyashram. Jay Shri Gayatri Mata Ji
