With the Gaudi 3 AI chip, Intel challenges Nvidia and AMD.
During its Intel Vision event, Intel revealed the Gaudi 3, a chip designed to compete with Nvidia's well-liked H100 AI processor. According to Intel, the Gaudi 3 processor promises 40% more power efficiency and 50% quicker inferencing than Nvidia's H100, with improved performance in both training and deploying generative AI models. This action highlights Intel's attempts to become a leader in cutting-edge chip technology, particularly in light of its continuous transformation and investments in the company's capacity to manufacture chips.
The Gaudi 3 chip launch is a calculated move by Intel as it looks to reimagine itself and compete in the AI sector. By presenting an open-source solution and a substitute for Nvidia's products, Intel hopes to gain market share in a sector that is presently controlled by its rival. Moreover, the launch of new Ethernet connection choices and Xeon 6 processors, together with the availability of systems equipped with Gaudi 3 in many configurations, indicates Intel's intention to increase its presence in the AI hardware market.
Google Offers Free AI Photo Editing Tools
Google is making its AI-powered photo editing tools, such as Magic Editor, more widely accessible without requiring a subscription. These capabilities were previously exclusive to Pixel owners and Google One users. With this change, a larger user base on Android 8.0+ and iOS 15+ devices can now access features like Magic Eraser, Unblur, and HDR effects. Additionally, Magic Editor, which was previously only available on Pixel 8 devices, is now available on all Pixel devices, enabling advanced editing features like drag-and-drop Photoshop and sky adjustments.
Amazon's Generative AI Investments
The CEO of Amazon, Andy Jassy, described the company's significant generative AI expenditures, which include specialized chips, infrastructure, and AI applications spread over three tiers of the GenAI stack. This calculated action represents a new stage of development and opportunity for the internet behemoth, underscoring Amazon's goal to be the leader in AI innovation.

Spotify launches AI playlist feature
For customers who are able to create playlists using written instructions, Spotify has introduced a tool called personalized AI playlists. The use of AI will enable the production of playlists with prompts like "songs to serenade my cat" and "beats to battle a zombie apocalypse," in addition to the more conventional playlist building requests, such as those based on genre or time periods.
The prompts may make musical references based on locations, events, characters from movies, colors, and emoticons. But according to a TechCrunch study, the best playlists can be created by combining different genres, emotions, artists, and decades.Additionally, Spotify uses user preferences to personalize playlists, which the user can later edit to suit their tastes.
Changes can be made by giving orders such as "more pop" or "less upbeat." In addition, tracks can be deleted from the playlist by swiping left on them.Using a combination of LLMs to interpret user intent and the company's personalization technology, Spotify's AI features construct playlists based on machine learning. The AI-playlist feature, which is currently in beta, will first be accessible on Android and iOS devices in Australia and the UK, before expanding to other nations. To utilize the function, open the Spotify app's "Your library tab" and click the + icon in the upper right corner of the screen to view the list of AI playlists.
For a while now, Spotify has been making investments in AI technologies to enhance its streaming offering. Prior to the introduction of AI playlists, Spotify introduced Niche Mixes, a service that let users make custom playlists with prompts. But the feature's ability to interpret language was restricted, and it did not make use of AI technology.
Gmail and Google App Updates Bring Convenient Features for Android Users
According to PiunikaWeb and tipster AssembleDebug, the next version of the Gmail app for Android will include a 'Summarise this email' function that would make it easier for users to understand the contents of long emails. A new toggle button will also be added to the Google app for Android, allowing users to alternate between Google Search and Gemini AI for task execution and content creation. Both improvements are anticipated to launch shortly after going through testing.
Meta Releases Updates and Adds "Made with AI" Label Policy for AI-Generated Content
In addition to other changes to its AI-generated content policy, Meta has announced that a "Made with AI" badge will be added and will be live on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads beginning in May. By broadening labeling to include more video, audio, and image materials—either through user disclosure or Meta's identification of AI indicators—the amended policy seeks to address the spread of AI-generated content. These adjustments represent a wider understanding of the need to govern manipulated media beyond videos that alter speech, reflecting the emergence of realistic AI-generated content across many mediums. They are informed by feedback from Meta's Oversight Board and a developing landscape of AI technology.
Meta will modify its moderation strategy for AI-generated content in response to the Oversight Board's recommendations. As of July, content that complies with other community norms will no longer be removed. Rather, in line with the Board's recommendation to refrain from implementing too restrictive measures, the company would concentrate on giving users greater context and transparency. Meta's efforts to adjust its content moderation procedures to the changing world of digital manipulation and AI technology are reflected in this change, even though AI-generated content that violates standards on matters like bullying or harassment will still be eliminated.
