1. Gate valves are isolation valves and are not suitable for regulation.

2. They are designed to operate either fully open or fully closed.

3. They minimize fluid hammer as they operate slowly.

4. The pressure drop through a gate valve is minimal.

5. When fully closed, gate valves provide a positive seal under high pressure.

6. Under low pressure, there can be a seepage of 5 psi, which is not considered abnormal.

7. They are available in sizes ranging from ?” to 12”.
