Gate Operation Controlled By Digital Keyless and Wireless Radio Entry System

Two weeks ago, I wrote about work we had done for the Channahon Police Department: “Linear HSLG Sliding Gate Operator for Channahon Police Dept.” In addition to the sliding gate operator pictured above (black box far right outside of fence), we mounted and installed two Linear AKR-1 digital keyless entry systems with built-in wireless receiver keypads. ECI also provided the necessary electrical infrastructure for the installation.


One of the?Linear?keypads is shown above on a curb mount gooseneck pedestal base mounted on a concrete pad. It comes with a built-in wireless radio receiver that sits on top of the keypad.

The keypad can be programmed to accept up to 480 distinct access codes to relay the gate to open. The radio receiver can also receive transmission signals from up to 480 individual block coded MegaCode? handheld or vehicle-mounted transmitters

It even comes with a built-in night light that illuminates for two minutes after any key is pressed.

A sample of the electrical infrastructure is shown in the image below. Infrastructure typically includes the necessary electrical components and wiring required to power and operate all of the components, as well as the connection and testing of those components. Key elements might include power supplies, wiring and conduit, boring and excavating, control units, sensors as well as lines of communication.


Channahon is a village in Grundy and Will counties. It is about 50 miles southwest of Chicago, past Joliet. The fencing and gate were installed by others.
