In February 2016, Albertans paid 1.4% more for goods and services included in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) basket vs. 2.1% in January 2016, and 0.9% in February 2015.
Gasoline prices were 20.1% lower compared to February 2015, while consumers paid 9.1% more for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
Consumers are experiencing the impact of a high U.S. currency, especially through the prices of food products (+3.2%).
