GASB Welcomes New Senior Research Manager Tammy Waymire

I’m very pleased to let you know that Tammy Waymire joined the #GASB team earlier this month as our new Senior Research Manager.

Tammy’s background and experience in academia, governmental accounting, and research match up very nicely with what our organization was looking for in the ideal candidate. She’s well known and highly regarded in the broader state and local governmental accounting community and within our GASB family.

Tammy comes to us from Middle Tennessee State University where she was the Accounting Advisory Board’s Outstanding Professor. Tammy has also been a long-time expert witness and litigation consultant, including most recently with Cornerstone Research. We’ve known her for a number of years through her work at the American Accounting Association, which is one of the organizations represented on our advisory group, the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council.

First Things First

Tammy is initially focused on GASB’s pre-agenda research activities on capital assets and subsequent events and advising our post-implementation review teams, including the project on our pension standards that will conclude later this year.

Once she has had some time to settle into her new role, we will sit down together to look at the processes that underlie our pre-agenda research, our post-implementation reviews, and user outreach. She will work with us to determine the best ways for the GASB to leverage technology within our research activities.

Without question, her experience, enthusiasm, and energy will be tremendous assets for the Board to draw from as we strive to refine and enhance our research efforts and the methods that underly them.

Please join us in welcoming Tammy to the GASB staff—and stay tuned for more on her and the work she’s doing here.
