On Friday, May 26, 2023, on the National Memorial Day weekend, I attended the Gary Sinise Foundation concert “Welcome Our Vietnam Veterans Home with Gary Sinise & Lt. Dan Band.”

The concert took place at the Constitution Hall, in Washington, DC.

Sinise, born in Illinois, and an Oscar nominated actor, co-hosted the event with actor and Illinois native Joe Mantegna, a Tony Award winner.

Sinise is a supporter of various veterans’ organizations and founded in 2004 the Lt. Dan Band (named after his character in Forrest Gump), which plays at military bases around the world.

After the concert the audience was invited to walk to the National Vietnam Wall War Memorial for a candlelight vigil.
