Garbage
There’s garbage all over our front yard. My house is beside an apartment building and it gets blown out of their dumpsters into our bushes and grass.
The snow has melted here in Toronto revealing a TON of garbage.
I could set aside a few hours and clean it all up but instead everyday after I go for my walk I spend a few minutes picking up garbage. I start with the biggest pieces and then move to the smaller ones until it’s all gone.
It never feels arduous because it’s just a few pieces and yet each day I see a marked improvement.
Often what’s between you and your sacred goal is some garbage: negative beliefs about yourself and your capabilities.
But you can clean these up. Start with the belief that’s the biggest eyesore. Pick it up and see if it’s true.
“Are you really a bad person? Are you really lazy? Do you really have NO willpower? Are you really horrible with money?”
If not, put this belief in the trash.
Then move onto the smaller ones and then eventually to the ones hidden in the grass. Slowly but surely you’ll move away enough garbage thinking that you’ll easily achieve your goal.
The thing about my front yard is that I can get it damn near perfect and then it’s a windy day and I’m back at ground zero. My brain is like that too: I have days where I think clearly and then something happens and my negative beliefs parade back in.
I start again with a few pieces a day, a few beliefs a day picking them up, looking at them and throwing them out. Until it’s clear again for a little while.
And this is the exact work I do with one on one clients. If you’re interested in exploring your goal, what’s in the way and seeing if working with me is going to expedite the clean up, let’s jump on a FREE consultation. Message me to set that up.
