GAPP Monthly Member Update | February 2024
Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers
It’s quality and sustainability have made U.S.-caught Wild Alaska Pollock the world’s most popular wild-caught seafood.
Letter From the CEO
With the last full month of winter coming to a close, it is only appropriate that we look at all that is on the horizon in the months ahead. Next month will kick off quite literally with the GAPP Board of Directors Meeting on March 5 that will serve to approve GAPP’s budget for the upcoming year. With a record projected revenue of $4.61 million to work with, the Board will have more resources than it has ever had to build out an aggressive annual workplan for our upcoming fiscal year that starts on April 1. With GAPP’s lines of work including the partnership program, research, marketing, and member services, stay tuned for how those resources will be deployed into those four buckets.
Knowing that the partnership program will remain an important part of GAPP’s work, GAPP is looking forward to exhibiting at both Seafood Expo North America in Boston March 10-12 (Booth 1739) and Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona April 23-25 (Booth 5B201) to both celebrate the 5 year anniversary of GAPP’s partnership program and kick off the next funding round. If you know of any brands interested in working with Wild Alaska Pollock, please encourage them to visit with us during either show to learn more about the resources we have available to support their marketing costs.
In addition to working to deploy the resources we already have from our member investments, GAPP has also been busy looking for other resources to bring towards our work. Over the past month GAPP submitted an application for $2.39 million in U.S. Department of Agriculture Regional Agricultural Promotion Program funds to support our international research and marketing efforts. We hope to hear back soon on the result of that application. This request was in addition to the $460,000 Saltonstall-Kennedy Grant aimed at building demand for Wild Alaska Pollock surimi seafood that GAPP already applied for late last year that we should hear the results of later this year. So, fingers crossed, hopefully GAPP’s year ahead not only benefits from record member contributions but also record outside funding as well!
Below you will be able to read about the launch of Wild Alaska Pollock at UBS Arena in New York City. This project, made possible by a $300,000 Saltonstall-Kennedy Grant GAPP received last year, is aimed at increasing seafood’s penetration into sports and entertainment venues. Please know that our industry’s investment in GAPP is getting noticed in the work we are doing and this investment you all make is what is making these substantial outside funding opportunities possible given GAPP’s proven track record of being effective.
Sincerely,
Craig Morris, GAPP CEO
Wild Alaska Pollock Launches in Second Major Sports Venue
In our latest venture, Wild Alaska Pollock takes center stage at UBS Arena, home of the New York Islanders and a host of other premier events. This initiative not only extends our reach within the sports and entertainment arenas but also aligns perfectly with our mission, supported by a substantial NOAA Saltonstall-Kennedy Program grant, to introduce Wild Alaska Pollock to new consumers nationwide. Seafood influencer Emily De Sousa (@SeasidewithEmily) also joined the GAPP team at a recent Islanders game to sample innovative dishes like Blackened Wild Alaska Pollock Street Tacos and Crispy Wild Alaska Pollock topped with Bruschetta, showcasing the fish's versatility. Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, affirming our belief that given the choice, consumers are eager to embrace the mild taste and sustainability of Wild Alaska Pollock, particularly with Lent upon us. This expansion is a strategic step in GAPP’s ongoing mission to elevate the profile of Wild Alaska Pollock across the United States.

1 个月Unfortunately, at the behest of Trump and Biden and iranian globalists, my children and i became torture in iran for more than five years ,and i have lost my job since 2019, but i was just a simple employee. They ransacked all the property of my heritage in Eslam shahr and Robat karim, and they ransacked the bulk of my lands with fake documents. However, i hope, one day a generation of politicians in iran and the united states is looking at such shameless actions that have done with me and my children without justified reasons, not the sense of pride that they now have. I wish they stopped torturing my children and i soon, and I wish one day comes, when the future generations of the united states and iran, have apologized to me and my children for torturing during the Past five years - torture without having justified me and my children.
