February: New York mobile sports betting revenue drops to lowest figure since August
Mobile sports betting handle saw a third consecutive drop off, since the record-breaking $2.1bn that was seen in November 2023. In February, the amount was just shy of $1.8bn, a 9.3% decrease from the month prior.?However, this does now mean mobile sports betting handle has reached $17.8bn for the 2023/24 fiscal year, surpassing the $16.4bn set in the 2022/23 fiscal year, still with another month to go.? Standard General proposes acquisition of Bally’s stocks
Standard General has submitted a proposal to acquire the outstanding shares of common stock in Bally’s Corporation for a price of $15.00 per share. This is subject to the Board of Directors' approval, who are likely to appoint a special committee of independent directors to consider the proposal and put forward a recommendation. Even if the special committee doesn't recommend the proposal or the public stockholders do not approve the transaction, Standard General says it will likely remain a long-term stockholder of the company. Online sports betting goes live in North Carolina
North Carolina on Monday launched legalized online sports betting in the state, with 12:00pm local time marking the official 'tip-off' time. Fanatics, FanDuel, BetMGM, bet365, Caesars, ESPN Bet, Underdog and DraftKings will all be going live in the Tar Heel State today, with Caesars Sportsbook being the first of the eight to officially go live.
